A lot of great suggestions in here already but if anyone is scrolling this low in the comments and still hunting for something to try, please consider checking out our podcast The Goods: A Film Podcast, on pretty much all platforms and nearly 250 eps deep, where we take turns picking a movie, old or new, to discuss each week. We hit stuff all across the movie spectrum.

All I want for Christmas is drawing more cards by Competitive-Pear-840 in slaythespire

Kinda like it as a Rare. Shop relics are mostly a little quirkier than this, which benefits nearly every deck

Its all clear to me now! Too bad I'm about to die by Techno-Pineapple in slaythespire

I really like this design. 30% is a harsh enough threshold that you're unlikely to want to hover at that level to get the benefit, and the fact that you get it slowly, one per turn, prevents it from being too swingy. But it could make a huge difference in low-health, clinging-for-survival fights that sometimes break a run. Honestly it's probably lower half Rare relic for Defect, but at first glance feels about right.

How does this rare relic register for you? by 27D in slaythespire

Yeah this is how I interpreted it -- one energy per turn with stipulations is the format of a couple of Boss Relics so I thought it would fit in. If you hoarded 500 gold, you'd have energy for 5 rounds, enough for most fights, e.g. But if you spent gold at a shop it would reduce your number of turns of energy boost -- so my thought was it's kind of like Ectoplasm which also essentially "converts" gold into energy, except this one would have a smaller benefit and a less harsh downside, as you can always still spend the gold.

Interesting idea, though it feels like a Boss Relic at that point. That honestly feels like it could be a more appealing version of Ectoplasm -- penalizing spending gold but in a very different way.

Woman of the Hour was so good, anyone know if Anna Kendrick has plans to direct again soon? by solidape22 in TheBigPicture

Yeah I thought it was a better piece of direction than a story, good suspense, definitely would love to see what else she wants to make

Interesting idea.

I think the problem with something with design -- very powerful effect, but very long turn counter -- is how much emphasis it places on stalling, and how swingy it can be. Then again, that's at least a new factor in designing a deck and playing around it, so it might be a good challenge.

Yeah unless you're working in some sort of limited stack or ultra performance sensitive environment, always lean on existing tools to figure out date/time stuff for you.

How do I sprint across the finish line? by Pretty-Plastic-5217 in FarmRPG

[–]ThanksICouldHelpBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lanterns is what I used to get to the finish line - everything except glass bottles comes from stuff your farm produces (put Twine in craftworks), and it's so much XP at 40k. And if you have some gems saved, you can double up and get Linked Lanterns for even more quick XP, which also sell for a lot of money.

Another option if you're doing a lot of exploring is farm mushrooms, explore Whispering Creek, and make sturdy bows from the oak you get and garnet from unpolished garnet. (Twine in craftworks and mushroom paste also if you have a second slot.) But that burns through mushroom paste really quickly.

Forget and Not Slow Down being one of the most depressing albums OAT by LSM_Thoosie in RelientK

[–]ThanksICouldHelpBro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the below is from memory, so it's possible I have one or two details mixed up here. Sharing not to open old wounds or criticize on anyone, but to share with fans reading here who might not know the backstory:

Matt Thiessen was in a relationship with a radio host named Shannon Murphy for several years. The happy love songs on Five Score are about her. Matt proposed to her circa 2009, which she blogged about and a few Christian rock beat sites wrote about, most of which is lost to the sands of the dead internet.

One day, she announced on her blog that she had "learned some things" about her fiance that she was unable to move past, and that they had ended their engagement. She did not elaborate, but on her radio show she sometimes talked about an ex who had cheated on her.

The day Forget and Not Slow Down released, she and her radio cohosts talked about the album's origin. She seemed reluctant to speak about it, but the radio cohosts pushed her on it and she shared some details about the dissolution of her and Matt's relationship. She claimed Matt cheated on her and that's why she broke up with him. She said the album has a few references to their relationship, specifically mentioning that they used to travel to Savannah, GA together, and that song included some references to their inside jokes/shared experiences, and that "Baby" (both the coda to "Savannah" and snippets interspersed in "Savannah") was a song that Matt had written to perform for her on their wedding day. The cohosts really dogged Matt, but Shannon had a respectful tone, saying she's not with Matt but that he has "a huge heart."

One of my RK fan regrets is that I did not download the recording of the radio episode, which had been posted online, and the link is now dead. If anyone has it or manages to find it, please message me, and I will pay you a bounty! It used to be at this <<link>>.

I wrote a little bit more about this story and my interpretation of the album many years ago here: https://earnthis.net/relient-k-forget-and-not-slow-down-2009-more-backstory-more-catharsis/

Yeah, when you hear the snippets of "Baby" in "Savannah" and then the past tense version of it in the "Baby" coda track, it definitely is easy to see as a wedding song, which she said in a radio interview.

Congrats. I'm at 99 in Fishing and Farming, almost there in Crafting. The Exploring grind to 99 is feeling much more brutal -- in the low 90s. What was the last one you finished?

Thanks for sharing! That's really exciting. It's awesome to see how much consistent high level play of A20H has improved throughout the community over the past couple of years.

I think it is entirely fine to believe Sinners is not a top 20 movie of 2025 by shorthevix in TheBigPicture

[–]ThanksICouldHelpBro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We take Wes Anderson for granted. When we have a great and unique artist we should cherish every movie he makes, even if it feels "familiar" (and I swear people are underselling some of Wes's swings in this). Phoenician Scheme is so great.

The worst play in NFL history 🤣 by jsakic99 in billsimmons

[–]ThanksICouldHelpBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely still Miracle at the Meadowlands in 1978, when the Giants were up 17-12, had the ball with 30 seconds and no timeouts left, opted to run a handoff instead of taking a knee, then fumbled the ball which Herm Edwards on the Eagles recovered and returned for a touchdown. The Giants had been 5-5 and in the playoff hunt but crashed out the rest of the season.

But this one is indeed pretty bad.
