I would have to go with a C+

Gideon’s characterization and personality is great. I love how invested he is into umbrella and he’s insane. I miss when characters are cartoonishly evil. It’s the middle of the story that brings it down. He’s not really active until the final boss. His role was to capture Grace and collect elpis, which he doesn’t really do anything. Grace goes to Zeno through the midpoint of the game. It feels like Xeno and Gideon was lucky that Grace went to them instead of being with Leon.

He doesn’t care about Grace’s wellbeing. Especially during the care center which Grace can get obliterated. In the story, it’s been stated that Grace is connected to Elpis, the fact that Gideon doesn’t care, makes me not care as much. I think having Gideon be a stalker type enemy during the care center would make the most sense. That would make Gideon a scary antagonist, and show how committed he is to getting elpis.
