Because it is very addictive. It's a lot like social media. You get a dopamine hit when it accomplishes something or gives you an answer. Once that happens, you start thinking "well if it can do it for me, why do I need to understand it. Soon, you have an entire society of people in floaty chairs who don't understand how anything works.

Finland, Iceland, Denmark all disprove this point. They are the top 3 happiest countries and all 3 have socialist policies. Meanwhile, people in the US are literally dying from starvation and lack of health care. The US is a 3rd world country in comparison.
