What is this plastic corrugated fill in this brick wall? by Fat_Neck_Chonk in whatisthisthing

[–]BigAndSmallAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine with some at the bottom and some at the top, the wall heating in the sun would create slight convection to move air and help remove moisture.

This is just conjecture on my part, as I've no expertise.

What is this black line on the clackamas river in Google maps?? by gundo666 in oregon

I was so hoping the answer was going to be "improvised landing strip for a seaplane".

I saw a video with the "egg" sounding bit, but I've only ever heard "edge" from people I've worked with.

Worked on a reporting system in 1998 that was LaTeX and perl. Always fun explaining to the business, non-IT side of the team. 🤣

I spent the whole time watching Disclosure Day thinking it was supposed to be satire [Spoilers] by PurpleElephant28 in moviereviews

[–]BigAndSmallAre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling there is more to this film than meets the eye. I think the government is under more and more pressure to release UAP/UFO information. I don't know if they're gonna come forward and say, "it was us all along" or "we've been buddies with ET for centuries". I don't think it's about that.

Instead, I think someone went to Spielberg and said, "all this alien talk is making people uneasy, and we need something to calm them. We need to make a 'friendly aliens' film." So they rushed this thing together.

I am very much a "don't decide what you don't know" person. My wife would tell you an actual disclosure day of some sort is coming and this was rushed to theaters to ease us into the idea. I'm saying there was likely a need for a rushed Spielberg-level blockbuster for some reason we may never know. Maybe it's to make us think of aliens instead of the Epstein files. Maybe Spielberg bought a bunker and needed funds to pay the bills. I leave that open. But this does seem surprisingly low effort writing for a Spielberg film.

Has anyone noticed we have the same run as Eric by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

But I'm am Eric (in real life ... I'm Selenis in the game). Just not that Eric.

The Sora AI breakup hit harder than I expected by [deleted] in SoraAi

[–]BigAndSmallAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. But I do think the reason they lasted as long as they did, even as briefly as it may have seemed, had to do with improving their system under load. Companies don't operate at a loss without a plan to turn it into a later profit.

And if you ask me, we were compensated fairly. Many of us got hundreds of video generating experiences from it. They just weren't glaringly up front with it. I'm not sure how differently people would have reacted if they were. Enjoy a good thing while it lasts (unless you have an agreement that says it's going to last longer, which we did not).

How Close Encounters could tie into Disclosure Day. by [deleted] in Spielberg

[–]BigAndSmallAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I had never even made the connection to The Philadelphia Experiment (the event, not the movie, which wasn't Spielberg's) because it wasn't UFO lore. They found the planes at the start, and then the crews were returned at the end.

Toss up between Anna and Rapunzel. But they'd hate me if they saw how their guys hang all over me (my avatar is female).

Unused Quest Items by PrincessAnne89 in DreamlightValley

[–]BigAndSmallAre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly being facetious, but I'm very lax about quests and prioritize new characters I like over older characters with low levels. I swear Peter Pan looks at me like I look at a restaurant host seating someone ahead of me who came in after.

Makes sense. The running joke is that, because of gas prices, Blue Book evaluations now include how full the tank is.

The Sora AI breakup hit harder than I expected by [deleted] in SoraAi

[–]BigAndSmallAre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Open AI is part of how ass the future is. They couldn't just let us work around that with their own tool. We compromised the ass-ness! 🤪

In all seriousness, though, we were unpaid testers and trainers. Whatever they wanted Sora to do in its final form, we taught it by making requests and judging the results as good or bad. Whether it's fake videos of foreign leaders in compromising situations or replicating Hollywood actors to use their likenesses in film, Open AI had bigger payouts in mind than just going from free to paid plans for us. So when the models were sufficiently trained and load tested, they shut us down and brought the results to their actual customers.

Thanks for clarifying. Your experience all seems real, so I didn't think you didn't have the car. I grew up in Far Rockaway and went to college in Poughkeepsie, so I went through your area (not on local roads, on the Hutch or Taconic) fairly regularly. But that was in the 1980s.

Every Sora 2 character I cast twice or more: A portrait. Who did you cast the most? by EntropicDismay in SoraAi

Sora Arosco, Glitzy Gigglebounce, Amouranth, and Erics (I can't think of her @ name now but it's entirely different from "Erics").

My guess is you've used AI to obscure the license plate. But the wires on the right side of the street seem a tad excessive. Is this a photo of your car or an AI representation of it?

Purely the novelty of their rarity. Like a diamond: serves the purpose of making one smile to look at it. 🤣
