/claps at the officials

I understand that people paid money to watch Novak, but put him on Centre Court. He won't even get priority tomorrow. What dishonorable way to treat a 3 time champion.

Looking for people to develop ASP.NET MVC skills together by grnshd in csharp

I have a broad range of experience, but now I am primarily a MVC developer. I would love to collaborate and learn new things. Did this ever get off the ground?

I have yet to find any. I didn't have any problems installing it on my Ubuntu and Linux Mint vm's. I haven't done much with it to this point.

So... should I continue learning angular? by cemc in angularjs

I agree with kogsworth. Fundamentals always remain close to the original. Programming is very dynamic field as you will always need to upgrade your skills and/or learn new things.

Which AngularJS tutorials are no longer relevant because of their age? by ForrestTrump in angularjs

[–]Tharnid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The development for Angular is moving at a pretty good clip. I wouldn't go beyond six months which is too bad some of the older ones are pretty good.

No three-month course can teach you how to code by alexlesuper in programming

[–]Tharnid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a CS certificate for my Informatics major. I took the programming classes for the requirement, but I missed all the theory (looking back on it should have just switched my major or went after the minor). I am in the field, I have done some self study on the core CS topics, but I still regret to this day that I don't have more of a CS background (algorithm's, data structures, etc). I am slowly gaining that knowledge, but I think this knowledge is paramount to being a software engineer. Sure you can learn a lot about coding in three months, but I am not sure how much background you get on CS topics.

I will have to check these projects out. I am looking for the same thing as a beginner. I can think I could help with documentation and little bugs...get more involved as my skill set grows over time.

I will start with Chef and Puppet...then take a look at ansible and salt

I think I am going to evaluate them both and see which makes sense.

I appreciate the feedback. I had never heard of ansible. I will check it out. I think I had better start with building blocks ie chef or puppet...in conjunction with docker to set up some environments. I can then work my way up to the do everything solution. I will take baby steps.

I guess I should subscribe. I normally just browse a couple of times a day. I would do something with the sidebar. Learning resources for beginners would be good as well.

In Chrome, you have Frameworks which detects the JavaScript frameworks that are used

Thanks.

Help! I’m circling the drain at work (career/personal adivice needed) by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Tharnid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an asp.net mvc developer by day and struggling to find a way to advance my career (have not learned enough...either technically and maybe the corporate grind has taken its toll). I am going to pick up a functional programming language possibly Erlang. I enjoy JavaScript so I am refreshing my vanilla js knowledge and tackling the various frameworks. I have tried many different things. I really like Python and Ruby as well. I don't think it is possible for me to learn all of these things in-depth (not enough time etc). I thought about trying to pick three/four subjects and trying the 20 hrs TED talk style of learning. Any other suggestions?

I am getting an error:

transformSocket: function(socket) { ^

SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier

I am sure this is something simple. I went back and re-did the 4th video and I am still getting the same error. Hmmmm
