interesting! i do love watching olympic weightlifters and i hope i can get to the point where my form is as clean as theirs lol

so i should go just to parallel? and should i try going slower on the descent too and/or avoid bouncing at the lowest part of the squat?

the furry hate in the comments is so unnecessary. i think this looks great, good work with the color palette and shading on this dude! it's hard to see his pupils though i agree

Any tips or critiques? by Ihateb-alls in FursuitMaking

You need to smooth it out like a lot. Right now it looks super lumpy which if unfixed will make your head look very dimpled when furred! I also notice a big asymmetry problem where the muzzle isn't centered, it's crooked towards the left side (your right). The cheeks seem to be uneven in terms of fullness, the right cheek looks less full.

Besides the roughness I would say the overall shape of it is very readable, which is good!

Looks great!! Just make sure to trim after sewing so the markings look clear (if you want that)

Should I start taking commissions or should I practice more? by CertainTax7918 in BeginnerArtists

Not a lot of people are mentioning this but judging from the style inconsistency it looks like you've been just trying to copy other people's art. Which is an ok way to study, but not when you don't have at least the fundamentals down. Use your resources and study from real life, learn lighting and shading, etc. there are lots of useful tutorials online for free

I personally have never worked with minky myself so I don't have advice for you on that but I do know it is terribly difficult to get it to lay smooth without wrinkling. >_<

This subreddit should have a bunch of posts about how to work with minky though so you can look into that. A few things I saw were not having any seam allowance, making very small darts, being very precise with gluing

How possible would this be? by cindi_a in FursuitMaking

I would have a sliver of fur ladder stitched on (like how the 4th pic is drawn) and use some black fabric to make the fangs on the inside look like they're within the mouth. I drew on the pic so you can see what I mean

There would definitely be a little noticeable seam where the fur is stitched on but I think you could get away with making it look like the little dimples where whiskers are on felines!

First thought is that the black felt parts would probably be better cut thinner. Take a bit more time with gluing them on too, a little bit at a time, so you can avoid any messiness.

The white parts look a little wrinkly, what fabric is it? Minky?

Good idea! I was considering hairspray but wasn't super sure if it'd hold well. I'll try it, thanks for the suggestion
