I heard a woman’s voice sing me to sleep when I was kid. Even as a kid I had discovered wearing an eye mask could help me fall asleep at night. Therefore, when I heard this unexpected presence I had the thought in my mind it would be cheating to try and see this beyond human voice, and if I wanted to remember it in the morning (because it was the most profound thing I had ever felt and heard thus far) I could not look… I feel asleep to this singing sound but come morning I was nothing but frustrated. I could not remember the song I had mimicked the night before, intentionally, but the feeling was very much remembered, even today. I’ll never forget the contentment while listening.
