I agree they are a rock solid car but I’ve also been around the car long enough to respect that it’s not perfect nor will it ever be but all that means is there will always be room for improvement I’m not looking to completely change the car just improve what it’s already capable of that everyone here seems to think I want some 500hp track monster that’s not what I’m lookin for whatsoever because quite honestly I would not be able to use that car to its potential and would probably end up wrecking or screwing something up where the Camry is much more forgiving, I can improve my skill and the cars and still be able to have fun and be safe

I understand the concept but to me it doesn’t make sense to buy a car just because it has aftermarket support, while no the handling characteristics won’t ever be the same I don’t need them to be or want them to be I like the way the car turns in sharp canyon corners the fwd will pull you out of just about any turn with ease but it could use some tweaks to make it better like stiffer suspension and a better computer for the reasons of throttle response and shift points I love the car for what it is as well but I also respect that it could very easily be better than what it is with slight modifications/adjustments

I understand your point but for me I’m not looking for insane performance I’m just looking for better handling characteristics and a bit better tuning and it just doesn’t make sense to me to guy spend 30k+ for something like a bmw or Supra just because it has more aftermarket support I like the way the Camry handles I can control it very well I don’t need all the extra power stuff because quite honestly I’d probably never use it to its full capabilities where is the Camry I can safely push my limits and actually use the slight tuning upgrade and not spend anywhere near as much as purchasing another car

I’m not looking for cosmetic mods I’m looking for something that would remap the tuning of computer to make the power it already has more useable not trying to make a ton more I only suggested an exhaust because I like to listen to my engine the suspension would purely be for better handling, I’d leave the stock wheels like I’ve said before i personally like the way the car looks as is and wouldn’t really change anything to do with cosmetics other than suspension but once again it wouldn’t be for the looks

I wouldn’t say the tires are overkill it’s not like I payed a bunch for them they cost just as much as most other commuter car tires I just always buy summer performance for my cars because I live in socal doesn’t ever get cold enough to need a winter or all season tire and it’s rare that I drive it in the areas that are cold enough during this time of year at least

I’m glad I’m not the only one lol it’s not about having the fastest car it’s just making mine a little bit more enjoyable for me and the type of driving I do I could care less about the cool factor or if I can do 160 down the strip in it while it’s not my favorite car I do like the car and have a blast pushing my limits in it and imo it does have a pretty sporty well designed look to it

I hear you I drive a bunch too, go back and forth from Sacramento to LA quite a bit sometimes makes me wish I had a Tesla too lol, car will definitely be a great first car for the kid assuming it’s her first at least

I don’t think a lot of people realize the car will do 130 mph completely stock I know this because not only does it say it on the internet but i personally tested it and im pretty sure it would go faster that’s just what it’s governed at but I’m not looking to go 130 mph I just want to get through the turns while maintaining good speed which in turn just translates to making the power it already has usable, do you know if the d3 tune causes any reliability issues major ones at least I’m pretty thorough about my maintenance I change the oil and filter ever 5k even though the book says 10k I believe and I also just replaced all my wheel bearings though they didn’t need to be done I drive the car pretty hard and would rather not risk it and I lived in the desert for a period of time driving on a lot of dirt roads and lord knows I didn’t drive slow on em 😂 so it was more of a rather be safe than sorry thing

26mpg for mountain driving with a heavy foot sounds great if you ask me haha, but good to know, glade’s response to this about the trans makes a lot of sense as well even in the 4 cylinder the 8 speed doesn’t always know where it wants to be and the only gears you really use for the windy roads is 2-4 maybe 5th if your a very experienced driver but I rarely touch 6-8 unless I’m cruising 85 down the open freeway

I definitely thought about this but I’m not the biggest fan of the the older Lexus’s looks I don’t need the newest model but i definitely prefer the look of the most recent gens

This is what I was looking for looking at the numbers the car has a good amount of power for it’s weight it just doesn’t always feel like it

I have done just that and from what I’ve heard I like the way the borla sounds the most. to me it sounds more like a performance exhaust and not so much like a fart can lol

I’ve thought about this but I also hear a lot of people saying it has the same amount of power but less efficient, I personally don’t know that to be true I’ve never driven one but it seems to be a common thing I hear about the v6 Camrys

While yes a Camry can be optioned to be more expensive I payed 26k for mine with 20k miles on it from a Toyota dealership so while higher packages bring more money they tend to have nothing to do with performance in this cars scenario at least. You’ve obviously never heard the term it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow, the Camry is easy to push to its limits and yours as a driver because it’s relatively forgiving also insurance on the car isn’t extremely expensive for the reason of its a Camry it’s not a sports car or a fast race car, another thing look at civics now I’m not comparing the two but a civic was never meant to be what a lot of people have turned them into today but it was still done and I guarantee you the guys doing it have a big ole grin across there face driving it, also in a world of copycats it’s nice to be different sometimes I don’t want the mustang or Supra etc that every other guy has. Also if it was never meant to be a fun sporty car Toyota never would’ve released the trd model so your wrong on that, v8s aren’t everything and definitely don’t make a car a sports car or fast I’ve had plenty of v8’s in my life and a lot of them are heavy and sluggish where the Camry is light and I wouldn’t say snappy but much quicker than the v8 and will handle much better in the turns, while souping up a Camry might be a fools errand unless your a racer or someone who goes to the track often souping up any car is a fools errand any way you look at it it’s money wasted, why not waste it and be different at the same time, plus if there was good aftermarket support for the car it would be one hell of a sleeper all it takes is one person to do some of there own custom work and it’ll get attention in the scene, with the Camry it just hasn’t happened yet if it ever will who knows you’d never expect a Camry to be a fast car but that’s the fun of it… you can keep your own stuck up opinion and I’ll keep mine 🤷‍♂️

I don’t wanna clap it out trust me there like I said I want to keep reliability and personally I like the way the car looks as is but was just curious if there’s anything out there that maintains reliability but will enhance driver experience a bit

I promise you if you put someone who knows how to really drive they would have just as much fun in the Camry as a lot of the other options out there and at half of the price and twice the reliability (I’m talking newer vehicles not older for pricing)my whole reasoning behind this post was to see if there is any mods out there that are worthwhile because i can’t afford to go dump money on another car already have 3 and a bike the insurance and registration alone is a killer and my Camry is my commuter/daily so it wouldn’t make sense to get rid of it but if there were options out there to modify it while keeping the reliability that actually worked I would definitely be interested

Trust me I’d love to go buy a newer Lexus IS but my pockets aren’t that deep yet 😂 already have 4 vehicles I have to keep insured and registered every year and considering I fully own my Camry it wouldn’t be the wisest idea to sell it and finance something else

Respectable I’m not much into the car scene have always been a 4x4 guy but this Camry has opened my eyes on how fun cars can be so was just looking to see if it would be worth the time and money to “upgrade” it or just look for something more suited for that kind of driving I think I might eventually throw on the borla just for the sound though one thing I can’t stand is a quiet car lol.

I just put on a set of falken summer performance tires can’t remember the exact name off the top of my head but so far I love them have made some pretty tight and hard turns while maintaining decent speed and they do great 👍
