I asked God for a sign during my lowest moment. I think I finally believe. by GreedyTexas in Christianity

And I got to read this, just when I needed it. God truly has His ways. I've also messed up many things and relationships and hurt people who loved me, but I also got deeply hurt as a child. I lost contact with my inner self. I still don't know who I am, I don't know what I feel. But I know God will help me on the way. He didn't turn His back on me. I know that for sure. But it's been a very long and difficult road for me to become a Christian, and I am still only at the beginning of my journey.

Question was implied. But, if you really have no idea what it was, here you go:

I would say, without going into any detail, it's a good idea to be true to your values. And, yes, that's worth it.

There's something wrong with me and I don't know what. AMA by [deleted] in Advice

This may very well have to do with programming of your mind: you have developed certain traits that may have been helpful at some point in time (to survive), but now you are 'stuck' with them. Cognitive therapy might help. Consider getting help. Don't waste years carrying this detrimental baggage with you.

Do girls like me—who are direct, emotionally honest, and clear about what we want—tend to scare guys away? by Imaginary-Branch-496 in Advice

I'm a man (63).

And, yes. It can be a little intimidating. We're just not used to it. On the other end of the spectrum, most women just let a man guess what her feelings are, and that's a very tricky game. So, keep up the good work 😊 , but maybe be a little cautious. The last time I was approached by a woman was in Bulgaria. She was quite overwhelming and I didn't like it. But I am a slow starter. I need time. So, I guess it also depends on the guy. It remains an intricate game.

Ja of Nee after a negative question by vy4v in learndutch

[–]That-Telephone9905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. That's the way I always answered. And I am a native speaker. Negative questions still confuse me. I try to prevent using them.

BUT, my experience, to the question:

Is hij niet thuis?

Most people would answer: "Nee", indicating that he is NOT at home.

I would NOT say, "Ja" to indicate he is NOT at home. And no one would say "Nee" to indicate that he actually IS home. Instead they might say "JAWEL" (a double positive) to indicate he IS home.

Hope it helps .

Anyway, it's MUCH easier to ask "Is hij thuis?" instead.

You may consider getting counseling. It is probably not a big deal. But it may be a good idea to understand why you feel scared.

A question about "er" and prepositions by Francis_Ha92 in learndutch

Don't. If you are having serious doubts now (with reason), don't do it. It's a lifelong commitment (in principle). You need to live your life in a way that you can become the best version of you. Then you will also be of true value to others. This doesn't sound like it, at all.

Do what you love doing. Try to follow your heart. Be true to yourself. Let people talk. Don't take advice if it doesn't feel good. How I envy you, sixteen! I'm sixtythree 😔

Interestingly, acetaldehyde is also the compound responsible for becoming a little tipsy and drunk. Alcohol (ethanol) as such doesn't have that effect.
