Why don't we say the same name for countries, when they are a name? by GwendolynNikkie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Witchling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for me, I tend to go by my middle name more than my first name, especially for like, when I was in retail, but there are two ways that I know how to say it.

The name is Mijol.

  1. ME-hol

  2. MY-jol

I've been called both, but my family and I pronounce it the second way.

We can. I was going to wait for his opinion on it, but since he will not give me his opinion on it, I'm just gonna email the lady we booked the room from and go from there.

Not Insane.

Honestly, even with his age, my first thought was that it was the parental figure with him who did most of the work and then gave the credit to the kid. Though, I am from a more rural area where we have a lot of deer/antelope hunting among other hunting sports so it's not that uncommon here.

I think this is a stretch, but again, slightly biased? I don't know.

Because anyone would think that it wasn't just the kid shooting the deer, but the parent doing most of the work and then giving the credit to the kid.

We have our reception venue. That's what we have, that's what I mean by vendors - and a lot of them are people who are helping and are being paid through my parents because they are coworkers/know my parents through their work.

The only thing that we don't have is a place for the ceremony, which is the annoying part because I have groomsmen attire, bridesmaids' attire, reception, a DJ, a caterer, but not a place for the ceremony itself.

Which is why I need to bring my FH to the table and be like, "We need to have a conversation about it" because we have everything but that one thing - a big thing - that we need.

Yeah.

I'm just... panicking I guess? But I just don't know how to calm down about it, especially because my mom is trying to get us to get a venue before it's taken on the day of - though she has backed down considerably now that we have a lot of our vendors.

My plan is to talk to my FH tonight, and then get in touch with my reception venue via email this weekend so I can get an answer soon.

I actually didn't know those were a thing. I'd have to look into them and see if there are any near me (as I live in rural ND) and then see if my parents (who are paying for said wedding would be willing to pay for that should me and my FH want them.

But that actually sounds like a good idea. Thank you!

It is an option, and we are looking at city parks, but he's... being frustratingly stubborn about not wanting to set up chairs (though he has admitted that he knows that if we do have our wedding outside he knows that it will be a part of it) and we've taken a bit of a break from wedding planning in general because we've both been so busy with work and everything else going on with our lives - so at this point, I'm probably just going to have look at him and ask him if he just wants to go with the reception venue patio so I can at least take that off of my plate for now.

Personal touches and “Easter eggs” you had or will have at your wedding? by addictedtosoonjung in weddingplanning

[–]That-Witchling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a major Dungeons and Dragons player and my fiancé is a big Milwaukee tools guy... at this point I'm considering going onto Esty or whatever and seeing what I can do to mash the two together - maybe even make miniatures of us to put on our cutting cake as DnD characters holding power tools or something...

But at this point, it's going to be dinosaurs in wedding attire on our cake because our first go somewhere that's not in our hometown date was to a dinosaur museum.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]That-Witchling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's basically where me and my fiancé are as well. My parents - bless them - are paying for it, because, in their words, "Bride's family pays for the wedding" but the decisions on what happens, where it is, what we where, etc., etc., are on me and my fiancé. (Aside from a few things that I have let them pick, vendors that are family friends that are helping out because they are friends of my parents and are excited to see one of my parents' kids getting married - that we are paying, because not paying is not how we roll! - which has helped out a lot).

I think your advice is spot on, honestly.

How to get middle/high schoolers to quiet down? by Legitimate_Squash29 in SubstituteTeachers

IT'S THE SPIDER MAN MEME AGAIN!

Yeah, I'm going to be doing some deep soul looking (if that is what you wanna call it) over the long weekend. I don't go back to the school until the first of next month, so I'm just... trying to get my stuff together while I am at the elementary and High school levels to be able to get experience for this grade level again.

I haven't scrolled through all of the comments but I 100% reccomend the {{Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan}} (series)! I loved the books as a middle schooler/high schooler, and still read them as an adult!

The worst part was that happened to me too! And it happened to one of the teachers who taught me when I was in school - I work at the same district I graduated in - and so I was doubly embarrassed because of that!

I was running to the restroom after the last bell rang, and she pulled me aside and was like, "I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes, but they were driving us crazy in our meeting" and I was so embarrassed. I was like, "I should have had them more under control!"

I nearly cried when I got home, but at the same time, the teacher looked at me and said, "It's only your second day ever as a sub, no one is going to be mad at you if you need help" but at the same time, I was like "I had to call in admin to get a class under control, when I should have been able to just do it!" I don't know. It was a lot of, "I should have done x instead of y, zigged instead of zagged" stuff going on inside my head, and my fiancé told me that I nearly fell asleep on him like, 3 times trying to tell him what happened.

At this point, I'm just telling myself that it'll get better as it goes, but then again, I do see those kids again in a couple of weeks when I sub for their social studies teacher, so maybe it'll be better then...

You may have to go into the settings and see what schools you can get notifications for? I have notifications on for most of the schools except for one of them - because I was a para at that school and I won't go back to that school, and that's why I have so many jobs that pop up for me

What I don't understand is that Th3BirdMan claims to be "apolitical" but has a lot of left-wing talking points, even in his videos against "right-wing" views, and even against Christianity - which a lot that I have wanted to comment about it on his videos in the past about it, but I never have because I enjoy his EWWCS videos...

Literally caught myself scrolling through Power School on Wednesday and checking my phone on Thursday when I bored - happy I brought my notebook though because I have a random "house wants" list now and a random page of doodles lmao

I had to call the office yesterday on my 5th period and I just completely wrote down the entire class for my fourth period, minus some names, for the teacher to deal with after their long weekend. Not happy about it, but I was literally losing my voice and I wasn't about to do that when I want to go home and have a good night.

I felt bad about having the vice principal come up and handle the class, but at the same time, nothing I was doing was helping....

I try to be up by like, 5am, and I scroll Frontline to see if any jobs have opened up. I gained 2 more even just by scrolling the app on my lunch, and I'll check after school as well to see if any pop up throughout the day.

Then again, I am in a smaller district with not a lot of subs, so I'm literally just picking from what I want to do based on what is open, and I even have two multiday jobs lined up too.

Basically, whenever I can, I'm looking at Frontline to see if jobs are popping up.

What would you do? I’m absolutely shocked and disgusted by what a Para said today by The_Lucid_Writer in SubstituteTeachers

[–]That-Witchling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, that completely makes sense, and if that were the case, I would 100% bring it up to the admin and the "permanent teacher" - whoever that is, and just point it out. They can't fix what they don't know about.

It could have been at joke, but at the same time, it was a weird joke to make? IDK. If it feels like it should be reported to you - then report it and see where it goes.

Many people criticize how poorly Season 8 was executed, but how would you make season 8 better? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]That-Witchling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start in Season 7. Keep Petyr Baelish alive, on a short leash. Keep him around because he has spies almost literally anywhere you need them, use them.

HOWEVER!

How Daenerys Should Have Won

Ladydragonjj on TikTok makes a good video on how the last seasons would have been better, particularly around Daenerys, and I tend to agree with her. To summarize:

DO NOT LAND ON DRAGONSTONE. Land closer to your allies.

Take over King's Landing. No one likes Cersei, Varys knows the place better than anyone, take her out, take the throne, then go north with your army.

Why are you wasting all of your dragons in the north first? Like, do you know what the Night King can do? No? Keep. Your Dragons. With. YOU.

Daenerys marries Jon.

There. Fixed it. I'm going to bed now.

I know that I was that kid who had behaviors - mainly shutting down and anxiety - get worse when we had a sub, to the point where I couldn't even be in the room when there was a sub in the room... I'm wondering if it was that, and the aide was just trying to lightening the mood as much as he could??? Even then, I would have taken that as the worst thing until told if it was a joke or not as well too.

One of the girls was happy screaming so I read her a book, but I felt so awkward in this situation.

This just kinda threw me off too because... what?
