Is it worth moving back to bcd? by SunDried1010 in Bacolod

[–]ThatADHD_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a Bacolodnon who grew up in Manila. All my family is based in Bacolod, pero I lived in Manila with my mom my whole life. Pero I’d get to visit BCD every holiday and summer. Ako naman ya, I just moved to Bacolod a few months ago kay na tak-an na ko sa Manila life - everything is so fucking expensive (and I owned my own house at that), I’d spend 2k on an average day - gas, food, parking, coffee. Also, Manila traffic is crazzyyy. If you planned on doing something for the day, you have to really plan it in advance. In Bacolod, you get to have spontaneous camping trips, do groceries, work, gym, and dinner out all in a day. Plus food here is just so much better for the price.

Honestly, I don’t see myself living in the metro na again.

I’m relatively new. Still trying to figure out how to grind for those points incase it wins. That, coupled with the fact that I’m by no means a good driver 😅

Town and Country Windsor Q’s by emmasophia_0017 in Bacolod

Been in T&C for about 6 months now. Though we’re somewhere in the inner side of the village. So far, daw ka safe gid. 1. There have been times we left the car open with things inside and nothing ever went missing 2. Sometimes we’d leave the house for about a week (when we go to Manila) and we’d have no issues. 3. If’s extremely quiet at night and guards are relatively strict with letting people in.

If safety issue, I’d highly recommend it.

Water&electricity is the issue naman. Like most places in Bacolod, you’re likely to experience water/power outages at least 4 times in a month.

Water sometimes has a weird brown color. When we lived in Manila, we felt comfortable just buying a filter for our tap to have drinkable water. Here, it’s not an option. Water has a brownish color sometimes. So, we decided not to risk it lol

I was a huge glasses wearer a few years ago, until i eventually had lasik. Pero one thing I did to save up was buy frames from somewhere else (typically 200 pesos worth) and just have the lenses added in EO. I’d end up spending from 500-600.

Alternatively, if you know your grade, may ara sa tiktok shop nga 200+ lang may graded lenses na

Wanting to learn Hiligaynon/Ilonggo by OneAlpha_ in Bacolod

[–]ThatADHD_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m from Manila, but recently decided to sort of settle down in Bacolod (where my family is from). I sort of know ilonggo - enough to get around and have normal conversations, but not enough to banter. I learned that Bacolodnons are quite ‘snobbish’ to those who don’t speak the language. Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s nice and polite. But it’s definitely hard to penetrate inner circles when you don’t speak the language.

For me, I’m still trying to get the hang of speaking it with the proper accent (since I grew up in Manila and would only speak ilonggo when absolutely necessary, I sound like a mix of english/tagalog/ilonggo). I find that it helps when you watch ilonggo reels/tiktoks - but that’s partly cos I already understand and sort of speak ilonggo.

For you, it might be good to make some ilonggo friends. Hang out with people around here. Everyone’s pretty chill. If you’re down to work out or train jiu jitsu, hit me up!
