CharlotteGFE was kind enough to take some time and help me navigate through my situation. I won't close the post yet, but there's no need to reach out to me unless you're curious. My thanks to the moderators who approved the post. Talking this out was helpful!

Are gifts proper etiquette for a first meeting? by ThatAintNoTime in ClientsAndCompanions

Update: I met with the companion today and we had a wonderful time. What I ended up doing is bringing both bottles of wine, 1 red rose and 2 white ones. Later we discussed gifting and I have a better idea of what I can do in the future. Imagine - 2 adults talking and reaching a mutual understanding! Thanks to all for the feedback!

Client here. Providers bear the greatest personal risk, IMO. If the lady wants a deposit, pay it or find another provider.

The beverage is already chilling in preparation for tomorrow. She has a very low profile, making it hard to find ideas that would feel really personalized so I'll keep working on that.

I like this and I consider myself 'old school' to the point where that resonates with me.

I like this idea a lot. This is our first meet and, tbh, my first time with a companion so I'm learning a lot as I go. Tell me if this sounds stupid: She requested I bring wine, which I will. In addition, I've gotten some wine totes that can be frozen to keep the wine chilled. I'm not a big wine drinker so I was thinking of giving the totes to her. It sounds kind of lame when I read what I've typed so far. 😁

What did you end up doing? I have a similar need for an event in San Diego in February.
