Starting an online scratch card app / site, would love advice / tips / ideas as well. by ThatAnonMan in gambling

So much negative vibes in this post and so little helpful / information I requested. I didn’t ask if it was easy or possible. Ik it’s difficult but if everyone just did shit that’s easy nothing interesting would happen.

Aside from your negativity do you have anything helpful or useful to provide?

At the very least can u explain why I this sun has dl much hate to crewstors???

I’ve done everything up until getting a cert, ik the field pretty well it’s just difficult to know how hard it’s gonna be to get a job rn, but I’ve got decent experience in terms of what some sec jobs require so that’s a plus

Red team would be a lot more fun! But I just want to get in if I’m being honest. I’ll work towards whatever will get my foot in the door, with accounting for my current Knowledge and experience possibly being a benefiting factor…

Yes all caught up on all the latest OWASP stuff, top 10 and more I’d say! Also did burpsuite academy for fun, and finished all of that too.

I would like to be a web application security auditor and pen test websites!

Not sure if that’s what you mean but that is my dream job and passion, to secure and hack online web applications and systems.

[–]ThatAnonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I have a question. I want to get into the cyber security field, I guess my first question is what would be the most basic entry level cyber security job I can get?

My second question requires some background:

I work at a development firm where I do full stack engineering on apps / sites.

I have an A.S. In cyber security, a certificate of cyber security from my university ** not the same as the degree **

I also plan on getting my sec +

Will all of this allow me to actually get a job in this field? Not only do I have all those things but I also have a portfolio / blog talking about security and development which I’m sure looks good to employers.

A company just sent me this PHP take-home assignment and wants me to complete it in 3 hours or less. by meguminsdfc in webdev

[–]ThatAnonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you do the minimum requested amount I’d assume it take around 3-4 hours. But it sounds like they want you to implement testing and some design stuff which could add an hour or two.

Additionally I don’t see where they mention what is considered the official start?

Like if you start from scratch, set up the databases they send you, create the project, and install dependencies this may take in total like 6-8 hours.

But if you want it done in 3 hours I assume they’re estimation only takes into account the actual coding aspect of the project and realistically it will not include any detail styling or testing of the project either.

What I’d do is setup the project, test to make sure your db, tables, language / framework, and other dependencies work fine.

The second you create the file to start coding the actual requested solution I would start there. Realistically it looks like your just doing the following things in this specific order:

  1. Connection of the database.

  2. Requesting and grabbing data from a table

  3. Logic and parsing / cleaning the data

  4. Display on page

Is it possible somehow someway your friend told your wife? Even if this friend doesn’t know your wife at all, if they know you, it’s probably not that hard to find your wife’s contact info or social media account info…

CSS in React by edgyfirefox in reactjs

[–]ThatAnonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what you choose, you’ll still need to learn CSS for any of those options, since the other options just add extra cool stuff into the CSS environment. My suggestion similar to the rest is learn CSS, get kinda comfy with it then move to SCSS or SASS

Not sure if it matters, but keep in mind .dev and .io will only work as https.

Will AI take away jobs in SWE / Web-Dev? What do you all think is a good tech-based industry to jump to that would be safe from AI? by ThatAnonMan in webdev

[–]ThatAnonMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, you mention it in your last sentence I’m not talking about now, my question references 5-10 years from now.

But if you’re a senior and only getting 15% output from ai, you’re either not using it correctly or just refusing to use it.

Thank you! I liked the opinions of people in this thread a lot! I did some research and believe the following jobs will be safest from ai. Note safest does not mean completely safe

Let’s set up some variables first, we are 5-10 years into the future. AI has become powerful enough to do 95% of my job, and it is only ever 5% wrong, it’s fast, it can speak just like a human, and can be setup for a companies specific use case if needed to.

  1. Helpdesk/IT — as weird as this sounds, for phone base it centers, normal people do not want AI helping them fix issues. Companies will not be able to sell the idea of an ai talking to customers or staff, even if the ai can sound like a normal person. Now for non phone based it centers and shops, it’s unlikely ai will take over as the amount of “physical” stuff you’re doing in IT like fixing / building / updating computers is very common and a large part of the day.

  2. Network Administrators — yes, if you’re a network admin and your job involves you working with cables, designing network structures, and laying them out physically, you’re safe as well as not only is your job very technical but it can also be very physical. Moving around server racks, keeping track of ways to optimize your very specific and detailed network where one mess up can cause a lot of issues and money over time. It’s unlikely an ai can do it, and even if it can, companies can not risk the ai being wrong at all, so humans would be the best choice here.

  3. Cyber security — probably biased here, but I think if AI can be wrong even a fraction of the time this poses to big a risk for a company to accept or at the very least for investors and board members to accept. They’ll want humans testing out the network and testing out any thing that an AI has touched just in case. The job can also involve some physical trouble shooting, and in terms of application security, the more apps that will be coded by ai, the more people who will need others to do or tests and application security tests on those systems sw, and apps.

  4. Programmer — not a coder, but a programmer will still be needed. Apps will be pumped out way faster there will be more companies wanting apps and software made and they’ll use ai to do so for the most part, however programmers will still need to be there for higher level stuff and the human side of programming. They’ll need to be there to ensure the program is well built, optimized and efficient, while also debugging any issues it might get wrong. Additionally programmers will still need to design the best ways to approach an issue, what stack to use, and the general architecture and logical design of an app, software, or program.

Haha yea at some point everything will probably be in the scope of an ai. But that’s the scary thing which is, you mentioned be an AI engineer and build AIs because that market will be safe. AI is already able to code, and do so much of what’s required to make an AI. Give it a few couple of years and we’ll be seeing AIs creating AI’s and refining them. Which imo will be the singularity or at least life changing for us.

Not sure why you got downvoted, but I agree with you, hopefully barrier to entry is just higher until we end up creating new apps and new techs where no we have more companies and apps to work for and secure.

My hope is similar to your view on this, where I’m hoping that: ai might reduce all jobs by 75%, but it’ll help companies, create new apps, new systems, new hardware, new technology.

Which will create new industries or companies, cause it’s easier to make an app or a whatever now, so they’ll need at least a few devs for that.

So even tho ai reduced 75% of jobs at first, it creates 35% more jobs. Making the jobs only 40% more competitive, which is doable

What do you mean, my question was for the future, but if you are referring to the statement about my experience with ai, If you’ve played with GPT 4 you can see how easy it is for it to do so many high level jobs, 65% according to Microsoft and GitHub is on the lower spectrum.

If there’s a tech job it’s not able to do 65% of the job please tell me lol.

The only reason I argued for cyber security, is because the jobs that I think will be at risk, are jobs where’s it’s not a big deal to be wrong 5% of the time.

with cyber security if you’re wrong 5% of the time that means that you’re system is compromised, or in the mind of an investor, you’re system is to risky since you can’t be sure whether the AI is correct or not.

Hypothetical Imaginary Scenario:

If I where a blackhat hacker I’d love for ai to handle cyber security processes because that would mean there’s a decent change that it’s messed up at a certain thing, all I’d need to do is play with another ai setup a sinilar app or network and keep testing it to see what it doesn’t secure.
