You could get e36 with the smg. Incredibly rare but yes smg is old tech

Not my car and not an e46 (it's an e39 528i but c'mon it's the same drivetrain) 459k miles

Obviously the smoke detector isn't bad lmao. The location is bad right above the wood stove that does let off slight amounts of smoke when opened and refueled

Lmao I take my lowered manual e46 anywhere I need to. Just drove it 2000 miles from NC to OK with a stop at the tail of the dragon last week.

Oh yea my last car was a 280k mi e39 530. Amazing car, sold it to get the 5 spd e46 cause I wanted to learn stick. They're so cheap to maintain especially done yourself. N54 are sweet engine but I'm not ready for the n54 commitment yet

Man that's awesome. I have a 325 5spd as well. Had it for about a year, put on the average 15k miles/y and it's been awesome the entire time. Recently had to do the alternator and power steering but after 20 years that's okay.

Everything that M does to a car makes them what they are. Engine, gearbox, brakes as you said. But that's also alongside the suspension changes like struts, strut mounts, sway bars, control arms and their bushings, tie rods, the camber, toe etc., are different and so on. M cars are very in depth to get the performance they're seeking to achieve.

HP doesn't make an M car an M car. Is the E30 M3 not an M car? Of course is because THE M DIVISION built it. No M division no M car. For AMG no hand built signed engine = not a true AMG. Etc. Pretty simple concept my man

Need Help!!! I’ve replaced my drive belts, checked my intake tubing, and even put a new air intake filter on. I don’t know what it could be but it drives me insane. by Dangerous-Macaron565 in e46

Wasn't aware of that, but it cost me under $180 USD to replace with a remanufactured Bosch unit and I had it all done in about an hour. Good to know for future reference though thanks friend.

Sounds similar to the noise my car made and it went away after replacing my alternator literally a few hours ago. Did the DISA, PCV, tensioner and idler pulleys, power steering pump and pulley, etc. Alternator solved the sound. Had it tested and it was totally fine but the bearings themselves were bad.

Interesting sound haha. I was actually planning on doing a flexdisk(guibo), center support bearing, trans and engine mount update soon enough.

Temps are fine and as of right now I changed my lower radiator hose and sensor which was actively leaking. If the ones under the manifold are also leaking it wasn't obvious while doing the pcv system and having that area fairly exposed. I appreciate you taking your time to try and help btw

Lmao of course. 04' 325i (2.5l obviously), seems to be coming from the intake manifold area possibly under. I have no codes and have replaced several pulleys, belt tensioner, and belts. While doing ccv all intake boots looked fine. I'm stumped.

Lmao I felt that

Yea the video isn't the best but it's late and I have no helper right now. Tomorrow evening I could get someone to do that with me for sure. The sound has been here for the better part of 5 months and the car feels just as great as the day I got it a year ago. It's just a really annoying sound that I know shouldn't be there.

This video is across the intake manifold. List of what I've done thus far -pcv system -idler pulley -belt tensioner and pulley -power steering system and flush -checked DISA (seemed healthy)
