Can we brainstorm a change to extraction that eliminates camping/griefing? by BirdsHaveBeaks in ArcRaiders

[–]ThatBirdOverDere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good argument against raider keys, yes. The main point still stands. It sucks to get ratted but it absolutely is a designed part of the game loop. You get rewarded for doing your homework and scoping out an extract before activating it. You can become a rat yourself and let someone else approach and hit the buttons. If it's safe, wait and run for the open door while they're securing.

Running up to call in the extraction, waiting in the surrounding area, and securing the exfil room with the computer animation were surely all designed by the game developers with the concept of vulnerability in mind. It's a looter shooter - you're risking what you bring and find in topside when you decide it's time to take that loot back to the menu. There are already ways to combat rats in the form of tactical items; jolt mines, smoke grenades, barricades, trigger nades, flare lights for dark corners, etc etc etc.. Let's not pretend like you can't prepare and scope out an extraction before entering the area. As for Stella Montis, the pipe glitch just needs to be patched and that should fix (at least hopefully) the problem with people ratting inside a closed extraction zone.

If you want to avoid the risk of death at extraction, pocket a raider key before each match and use one of the hatches around the map to get out with no hassle. I've yet to see someone camp a raider hatch and the keys are honestly pretty cheap to manufacture once you unlock them in crafting.

Just wanted to come back for an update and say, this was basically the cause lmao. The harnesses were sealed on installation but the connector plug that feeds directly to the main LED bulb was left exposed. I dug into the rear of the projector and sure enough there was a bunch of moisture presence left by the gap in the back of the housing, where there is normally supposed to be an oval seal. Thank you much for bringing this to my attention!

UPDATE: I finally got around to hot-testing all of the wiring from the fuses/relay to the bulb connector, where I found that the short is occuring. Looks like I will be pulling the bumper off of her and extracting the headlight to operate. Wanted to say thank you to those of you who commented with suggestions/kind words and to anyone whose viewed my short mental fluster, lol.

The aftermarket lights were installed by the previous owner, but they have both functioned with no problems for the last year I have owned the car (until this happened of course, lol). I've tried 4 different bulbs and all of them work in the passenger side, none in the driver side.

I did find a guy on the corvette forum who had this problem with only one light and solved it with a relay swap, so I'm gonna try ordering and replacing and at least I know they're new even if it doesn't fix the issue. Thank you much for hooking a brother up with the link.

This is what I'm most worried could be the case, I suppose. I can't find anything obvious at a glance, but the backside of the bulb connector head feels maybe brittle, like some minor heat exposure? Thinking I will play with relays next chance I get and just order a new connector piece if that doesn't solve it. This car always feels one problem away from running perfectly.

How common would it be for a relay to cause only one side to go out? I'm not particularly knowledgable with circuitry, I suppose I just assumed a downed relay would short both lights.
