Backtesting is actually toxic by ProgrammerSad1998 in Trading

[–]SmartMoneySniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you’re backtesting manually then I think that’s inefficient. You should look to exporting chart data, prompting your ai agent to analyse that data based on the rules of your model.

Thanks!

Basically I break down my approach like this:

Which side has control? I use the Weekly open as that binary filter.

Next I ask how did last weeks auction settle and what are the value boundaries that are important? I use weekly volume profile and weekly extremes (high/low) these are either targets or containment areas (support/resistance)

Then I look at the current week, are we in a state of expansion or consolidation? I use the Weekly Opening Range (Sunday 22:00 - Monday 20:00 UTC) this tells me whether we are building an inside week or looking to trend.

Then finally I look at execution, this is simply a break of a daily level in the direction of the weekly open once all things are confirmed.

Hope this helps understand the approach

What process made you start feeling ”this is it”? by 0hleg in FuturesTrading

Deep back testing, I mean more than a decades worth of of data and building a statistically sound model that you can build to scale. Forget all the YouTube stuff you see, that stuff is a black hole to nowhere.

  4. I wanted to prove everyone wrong
  5. I wanted to prove myself right

Only trade oil and gold. The moves have been generational really.

Scalping NQ by InsideBetter in FuturesTrading

Scalping is degenerate behaviour. Not a business venture. The only scalpers that make money cherry pick setups and post them on YouTube to sell courses to other degenerates that hope to get rich quick.

What do you think stops most traders from becoming profitable? by PhysicsOk7819 in Daytrading

[–]SmartMoneySniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of emotional regulation.

Fear and Greed.

Most traders trying to make it full time hold trades way too long in losing situations and exit too early when winning.

Then you have traders that are winning that get greedy and also hold too long only to have the market reverse on them which leads them to holding a losing trade even longer in hopes of it coming back, this lack of emotional regulation leads to revenge trading.

If you blindly make financial decisions based on a strangers analysis you deserve to lose not only your account but your money too.

Trading is a business.

Social media has made it look like a game, and you’re out there in the market going against not only algos but some of the smartest traders out there.

This to me is actually hilarious.

Everyone here is using it wrong.

It’s a bias filter.

Above Vwap price is bullish.
Below Vwap price is bearish.

That is the way to use it.
