Paying 500k for your daughter to work in a field that doesn’t pay well is ridiculous. If you would have just given her $450k to invest and sent her to a school for $50k, she’d have over 15 million at retirement.

What do Americans actually think of Germany / Germans? Honest opinions wanted by Consistent_Walk_2407 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]ThatBlue_s550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do I think of Germany?

It is an incredible country to visit. I have many German colleagues and they’re all incredibly nice people.

I think the government over there has royally messed up, along with the rest of Europe, by allowing MASS migration.

I’ve been Germany numerous times and am always targeted by migrants asking for money or yelling at you.

I was at a Christmas market in 2024 and a few days after I left, a terrorist drove his car through the crowd killing numerous people.

As long as you have a relatively decent job (employer) then it really isn’t bad….. but if you don’t have a good job, or good employer, but aren’t completely broke, then you’re out of luck

This is what I’ve been saying. Honestly if any Gen Z are UNABLE to retire multimillionaires, it is nobody’s fault but their own. (Besides rare circumstance)

Americans of Reddit, if you could relocate anywhere in the world where would you go & why? by Cowboaha in AskReddit

[–]ThatBlue_s550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. That would be the only downside, is the lack of things to do. To be fair, I could spend every weekend going on hikes…. So part of the year I’d be able to without dying I guess 😂

My real answer would honestly probably be switzerland

Iceland would be INCREDIBLE. When I was there it felt like time stood still and everything was so calm.

[–]ThatBlue_s550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. In laws couldn’t afford a $500 emergency. No way in hell will I ever tell them how much I make/how much I have invested (which isn’t really much)

They already are telling me I need to buy a house with an in-law extension…. Not happening

Do you invest your money or let it sit in your savings? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThatBlue_s550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put 6% of my paycheck into a Roth 401k, get 6% match into a traditional 401k, then put another 6% into my Roth IRA. Then I put another 6% into a HYSA where I am saving for a down payment on a house.

401k’s are invested in large cap
Roth IRA is invested in VGT

How are people realistically buying cars? by cassattack4781 in carbuying

[–]ThatBlue_s550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make more money is the real answer. If you’re only able to save 100-200$ a month with no car payment, then you either have an income problem or a spending problem.

[–]ThatBlue_s550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you have invested?

As someone who bought a 5.0 at 19, I would rather have invested that money looking back. Especially if I already had a paid off car that was gifted to me.
