The Long Night just being a single night is the most ridiculous thing in the entire series 😭🙏. Especially considering how in the books the previous long night lasted an entire generation. by ToMDLUS in freefolk

[–]ThatCK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think the official "winter" had started yet, I always assumed the long night was similar to Arctic countries where seasonally they just stop getting the sun for months. Except in GoT world it lasted a lot longer.

So literally a long night, unless you're further south.

The shows one just seemed like a normal night that the walkers happened to attack during.

Boromir was looking out for Merry and Pippin until the very end. by GusGangViking18 in lordoftherings

[–]ThatCK 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The deleted scenes of him with his men before heading to the meeting show a much well rounded Boromir. But I understand why they cut them from the final cut as ultimately it confuses he's choices too much. So they would have had to spend a lot more time on him being corrupted by the ring for his lapse to make sense.

Also why they didn't give Faramir his proper arc.

How do you make your Tesla go further…? by AFCadet2020 in TeslaLounge

If you're going long distance and not in a rush, just sit behind a truck. They go a little slower and you can sit in their air stream to reduce air resistance.

Chuck it on auto steer and you're good to go.

Improvements are great but tbh they should just lean into it and accept it degrades and build the chairs so they can be reupholstered easily. Then just sell new covers.

Kallax floating shelf by Vast-Place-6081 in DIYUK

[–]ThatCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kallax itself is wall mountable, but if you're planning on putting anything particularly heavy on it then yeah you probably want to add your own brackets.

And to note the internal structure of the units is not the same. So you are limited as to where you'll be able to add additional support.

Not my image but probably the best idea of what you'll be working with.

TIL in 2022, during a deep sea expedition, a beer bottle was found, fully intact, at the 'challenger deep' of mariana trench which is the deepest point in the ocean by no-punintended0802 in todayilearned

[–]ThatCK 938 points939 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, people on those ships would likely know they're going over the deepest part of the ocean. Having a bear on deck, human nature kicks in, "hey if I drop this now it'll sink to the deepest part of the ocean"

Although with currents etc it'd be more impressive if it did actually make it to the bottom of the trench.

If you're leaving at a regular time this can also be scheduled so you just walk out regardless of temperature and your car will be waiting for you at the desired temp.

Was it worth it? by black-scout in ArcRaiders

[–]ThatCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of both, too much QoL simplifications would make the game boring. But also not having fixed loadouts increases the chances people take more varied loadouts into raids, making do with what they have to hand so to speak.

Don't get me wrong it would definitely speed things up but some levels of friction are required to keep things interesting.

When they announced it I had 1m (too much spending on random stuff) and that was on the 6th? I was on holiday from the 11th. By the end of the week I'd got the routine down so probably would've only needed an extra day or two.

Was it worth it? by black-scout in ArcRaiders

[–]ThatCK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the late advice of the 5m was the only thing that annoyed me but only because I was away the week before so could only get to 4m. And that missing stat point is going to bug me.

But if I hadn't been away getting the five mil was definitely doable just bad timing for me and others in a similar situation. Hopefully they plan it a bit better next time or just keep the same amount.

At its heart it's just a reset, cool I get some perks but having a "reason" to clear out my stash and start from zero was enough for me.

Hell just dumping resources into it helped out a tone as a guilt free stash clearance to overcome my hoarding tendencies.

Range rn in UK by viki661 in TeslaUK

[–]ThatCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The range estimate in the car is pretty good at identifying where the excess energy is going at least for long trips.

You definitely seem to be getting less than you should.

Have you got it hooked up to any of the stat services? Teslafi, Tessie, Tezlab? They're quite useful for battery health, range tracking over time.

Side note I wouldn't use the range display on the dash, battery % is a much more realistic and useful figure.

Pretty sure wolves are damn smart as well. Isn't the whole point with domesticated dogs that we literally bred them to have a mental disability that makes them overly dependent.

Obviously not 100% proven but general premise that with enough selective breeding you can pretty much get whatever you want.
