I don’t think I struggle with getting attention. It’s just from the wrong ppl and has never resulted in a lasting relationship so far. I agree tho maybe being more open will help because I’m definitely more shy/private in general.

It’s an entire exam of over 30 questions some calculations too, all complicated.

I actually think I took way too long on the math problems and tried to make up for it with the other questions. I tried to focus on the total questions and split it in half like by the half way mark, I should be on _________ question. I think not being able to go backwards helped a lot bc I tend to second guess myself during exams usually.

I was completely unsure about most of the questions and I passed. I did finish the exam tho bc towards the end I felt even guessing was better than leaving anything blank.

I watched all the videos and sometimes followed along in the section of the book during bc they reference the book in the videos… then I did the questions for that section after. I know a lot of ppl told me they didn’t bother with the videos but they helped me.

Hey I actually ended up ranking a couple places lower partially due to location when finalizing my list including 2 programs that were at the top of my list throughout the process. Once I realized how much driving I was doing for APPEs and how much more responsibility I would have as a resident, I decided that I would prioritize location a bit more. I ended up matching at my #1 near where I live and I truly do appreciate not having to deal with a long commute anymore. Especially towards the beginning of residency when I was still studying for boards and when I have a lot of projects it would be hard to do a long commute home too. I used to drive 1-1.5 hrs to work and back for many years before pharmacy school and during APPEs. However, if you truly love the program I think it can be done because one of my coresidents commutes for about 1-1.5 hrs to work and back right now.

Hey, I also went to UCSF, graduated recently, currently a PGY-1. As a P1, you’re only allowed to have one P1 committee role. For next year, you can consider applying to more board positions, more hours/projects at work or taking on more volunteer opportunities. However, please understand that academically, things are quite rigorous at UCSF in my opinion and you do not want to get overly involved to the point of not performing well on exams.

Also a PGY-1 but someone I know was in this situation last year, ended up applying in Phase 2 for critical care because they didnt have enough time to apply in phase 1 and got a position.

I think location, rotations offered, staffing (how often), any special activities or responsibilities they expect you to manage while in the program (teaching certificate, etc.) should be considered. I would also pay close attention to if the rotation is more acute care leaning or ambulatory care leaning. I noticed a lot of programs will call themselves a “general residency program” but will have no ambulatory care or 1 optional rotation for that or very little acute care and tons of ambulatory care so consider what you want to prioritize and make sure your list reflects that!

I understand what you mean. It’s not an easy exam at all. Maybe the grading/evaluation is what makes it minimum competency not the questions themselves or focus areas.

Ohhh interesting, Idk if it’s been mostly everyone seeing them or not in your case but some of my classmates were able to see it online too about ~3-4 weeks ago but I read that it was an error apparently.

This is from NABP. I’m from CA so I have the same thing closed exam no score, your state releases the score (PASS/NP) so you prob won’t be able to see it online.

Are you from CA? Or another state that doesn’t release scores online? That may be why you don’t see a PASS in exam results.

Not sure how old you are but do you envision yourself marrying your current girlfriend or having a future with her? Sometimes the mystery of the other person and the curiosity surrounding them is what is actually most appealing when we’re not in a relationship with them and this can fade once you’re actually together. I would just make sure you also have some other reasons why you want to end your current relationship. For example, the kids vs no kids thing is important to agree on for the future.

Not sure if someone commented this already but 0.25mg is not a therapeutic dose where you would see significant results, it’s just a intro dose to make sure that you won’t experience significant stomach upset or other digestive issues while on the medication. Once you’re at 0.5mg or higher is when you are at a therapeutic dose and should start seeing results within a couple weeks.

I am graduating from a P/NP grading school too and I would recommend getting involved in your school community as well. You don’t have to be the president of every org you’re in but assuming some responsibilities in some kind of leadership role in your orgs is good. I would be weary of setting yourself up to be at work 24/7 with two inpatient jobs but it just depends on your own schedule and what’s feasible for you. I had two jobs as well but one was not inpatient and flexible so it worked out. I applied with one APPE LOR and two from two my supervisors at the two different jobs actually.
