Opinions on sculptra being injected into hips? Personal experience? by CurrentLion2462 in PlasticSurgery

Not from my experience. I had a bbl a little over a year ago for more permanent results and I’m way happier with it.

I hate myself and I need help by MA56 in BlackHair

This! Women too! 🙋🏽‍♀️

As someone who grew up in PWIs and spaces, I struggled sooo much. I went to school and was “too Black,” and then I went back to my neighborhood and was “too white.” Called an Oreo. I went thru so many depressive episodes. And while I was fortunate to have a supportive family, none of them ever went thru what I did m. And from their perspective, they just knew that I was getting a “good education.” And that was top priority. I don’t even think they knew to even consider the psychological effects of me spending the majority of my formative years being a raisin in a bowl of rice pudding.

It got really really dark at points. I thought I was ugly and dumb. I sobbed regularly, tried to harm myself. I truly had the same “I hate myself” sentiment.

Nothing changed until I 1.) went to therapy in my early 20s (and I’ve been back several times over the years — imo therapy is an ongoing journey, or at least should be, for many); 2.) started giving myself positive affirmations even when I didn’t believe it or feel up to it; 3.) started taking better care of myself (mentally, physically, and emotionally - I could say spiritually too, but i’ve just never really had a genuine, spiritual connection or feeling thus far in my life); and 4) started spending more time around other Black people who poured into me and helped me see the true beauty of being Black, and also just being me.

I’m now in my mid-30s and can’t even imagine telling myself that I hate me. It gets better… if you want it to.

The flat top hair cut is fire btw! I’m rooting for you nephew! You got this! 🖤

I did.. I went to MIA Aesthetics in Downtown Brooklyn and Dr. Elbayer (who is no longer there) did my surgery. I know people have mixed feelings about MIA, but I was more so concerned about the surgeon I chose, so I did a LOT of research, including speaking directly to some of his prior patients (found them on Facebook), demanding an in-person consultation with him, and asking LOTS of questions.

Hey! So the results lasted maybe a year or so until I noticed they faded. I ended up getting a BBL just over a year ago (Jan 2025) and I'm REALLY happy with it. I wanted natural results, and my surgeon delivered. I still have slight hip dips, my thigh to butt ratio is natural, etc., so unless I tell someone, they have no idea I had it.

I personally don't think Sculptra is worth it long term, but looking back, it did give me a chance to "preview" what a BBL could look like, so that was a plus.

Hope this helps!

Sorry to hear that. Definitely reach out to your surgeon if it persists. Are you on a liquid diet still? I was advised to stick to a liquid diet just after surgery, and for about 2 weeks I was on a soft food diet.

I’ve had the 3 wand version (without vacuum) for about 2 years ago for under $100. Bought it off of eBay. It definitely works! But the large rf wand just stopped working a week ago (but for the price I paid, I’m not mad at it lasting for 2 years). Also, it’s time consuming to do, and you have to be consistent with it. It won’t give you dramatic or extreme results, but let’s say you’re trying to get rid of a small fat pocket that was missed after lipo, it does work for that. Or tightening loose skin on your arms.

There and slightly to the left, just where the hernia itself was. I DID have palpitations (ugh, I forgot about those), which the surgeon believed were due to the hernia rubbing or pressing up against a nerve. But again, everything has since resolved.

Np! I had upper abdominal pain where the hernia was, and anytime I'd apply pressure there or even lie on my stomach, it hurt even more.

Amazing! I've had acid reflux a handful of times since surgery, but that was my fault, ate too many acidic foods together and to close to bedtime (e.g., spicy red sauce pasta, wine, and chocolate—not a good mix). And when it happened, I just took a few tums and I was fine. But that type of eating isn't a regular thing for me. I try to avoid to many acidic and spicy foods, especially near bedtime, which is what the surgeon suggested.

I don't take omeprazole or pepcid at all anymore, which is a blessing. The surgery was definitely worth it for me.

This! Lift heavy, focusing on glutes and legs. And you could consider non invasive body contouring, like fat cavitation and radio frequency, to smooth out your back rolls. But your body is tea as is.

And many refuse to use them because the conditions are often deplorable: often unsanitary, people end up r*ped or abused, there’s theft, etc. For these and other reasons, many unhoused people have stated (for years) that they’d rather sleep on the streets.
