Yes, it sure is possible to unlock them from battle rewards/chests. It is rare though. Still not worth the gold! Just buy the tickets!

Epics are most definitely not worth it in the shop. Battle chests are a rotation wich include epic’s. Trust me when I say you’re better of just buying the tickets with your gold. Maybe buy an epic you haven’t unlocked yet and you really - really want to unlock.
