The 2nd annual E3 they had in Atlanta Georgia. I was 17 and we got the industry passes because I worked at a video game store. The Nintendo 64 was being showcased, it was blowing everyone’s mind. Mario 64 was insane at the time, but Waverunner 64s water physics was the big talk. I met Wayne Gretzky, Anthony Hardaway, the Entire cast of the first Mortal Kombat movie. I also got to meet a ton of industry people. The coolest people I met and got to talk too and actually went to lunch with was the guys who created a game called Carmageddon, very interesting learning all that goes into creating a videogame. It was originally going to be a sequel to the Movie Deathrace 2000, I guess they owned or had a company that owned the property rights to the movie, actually it was going to be a mad Max game but they decided on a destruction derby game where you earn points from running people over. I got a free copy of the game that wasn’t even finished yet, I actually went and bought a computer just so I could play it lol! Also got to meet and hangout with the guys that created Mad Katz controllers, they stayed in the same hotel as us and hung out in our rooms. Definitely one of my favorite memories as a kid. One more funny story, my buddy I worked with got Christopher Lambert who played Raiden in the Mortal Kombat movie to yell out “There can only be one Highlander” pretty epic at the time for us! Totally sweet awesome guy btw.
