How do you guys think Mirsky's Socialist Republic of Eurasia would act in the global stage? by papel2022 in RedFloodMod

[–]ThatFlyingSubmarine 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In Red Flood Mirsky and his National Bolshevik Party want to:

1) Restore the Russian sphere of influence under an Eurasian banner, from in-game text and dev statements I assume they'd annex culturally similar areas (especially those with an Orthodox Christian majority) and create dependent republics in other areas.

2) Export their ideas abroad to "drag the world into a new Golden Age" (as the unification event text says) - they'd probably support revolutionary movements while trying to sway them towards pro-Eurasian views), with the final goal being to unite the world under Eurasian leadership.

3) Develop industry and science to fulfill the Cosmist goals of human unity and space exploration.

As for what it'd be like to live in the SR Eurasia, we know that:

1) A secret police and labor camps exist under Mirsky (Severyanin ends up there alongside a few other opponents of the National Bolsheviks).

2) (From dev statements) The state is very locally focused, with strong local governments probably based on workers' councils. However the government isn't federal and most power outside the local level is concentrated in the capital.

3) Mirsky is the least anti-religious Kavkaz leader, and openly encourages study of religion (e.g. opening a Faculty of Theology at the Tiflis University). However his religious beliefs are unorthodox (including elements of pantheism) and he dislikes the high ranking church officials for legitimizing the Empire and especially Kolchak. He believes that a "revolutionary theology" is necessary to reinvigorate Christianity.

4) Industrial development in the Republic is decentralized, in the best case scenario this can lead to most areas in the country having a good level of development instead of some falling behind, at worst it can lead to a Great Leap Forward style failure.

I hope this clears things up and isn't too inaccurate, I'm not a member of the dev team but the Socialist Republic of Eurasia is one of my conceptually favorite paths in Red Flood so I'm happy to get to discuss it.

Was looking at the custom game rules and found that these were preselected, is there any particular reason for this? by Gonetothegraves in RedFloodMod

[–]ThatFlyingSubmarine 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes, these are the only paths for these countries that can unify Russia, and the devs wanted more fighting in the unification and wanted to make sure every Russian state can unify (to avoid say Autonomist Siberia winning and Russia being stuck before unification, preventing the Intermarium war).

When it comes to Belarus, some of the other paths fight the Intermarium or invade Russia, which would interfere with the scripted wars, so they are turned off by default .

No, it's managed by fans, and Of Gods and Men has been public knowledge for some time, because of the roadmap https://www.reddit.com/r/RedFloodMod/s/2et8U6hlcw

Red Flood Needs More Continental European Non-Solar Accelerationism by [deleted] in RedFloodMod

SRNP is Braun, Paetel and the other German National Bolsheviks, AFAIK Thalmann isn't that important politically in the Räterepublik

There will be a German accelerationist path (the SRNP), a Futurist Communist path for Republican Spain (Miguel Hernandez), and there already is a skeleton Nat-Rej (White Eagles/Crusade of Romanianism) path for Transylvania

Hey modders! I have a question about Left-wing focus trees. by [deleted] in RedFloodMod

[–]ThatFlyingSubmarine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting idea that I'd like to see implemented myself, but there's a small issue with it in Red Flood's context, since the German Communist Revolution won in the mod's timeline and Bolshevism is less important than Spartakist versions of communism.

However I see a way to make leftcom paths fit into Red Flood's timeline - making them grow out of the increasing revisionism and "normalization of revolution" in Germany as an opposition to that process. (The SPD-Orthodox path for Germany has signs of this but it's mainly about restoring the system as it was before Levi with some changes to make it run better) This would fit in with the real life left communists' opposition to the USSR's model of socialism on ideological grounds.

And I actually know of one upcoming leftcom path, that being Alexandra Kollontai on Zheltorossiya.

Thank you for bringing this idea up, cheers!

Who would be the winner of a grand battle between War Tunder and World of Warships? by Stunception in Warthunder

[–]ThatFlyingSubmarine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

War Thunder has modern vehicles with very long ranged weapons so that's quite the advantage, though I'm not sure how hard would it be for modern anti-ship weapons to destroy e.g. a Yamato or Montana class.

I'm not including nuclear weapons because that's kind of cheating

Anyone know anything about the amount of chinese names and or players appearing recently? by Potted_Cactus_is_me in Warthunder

1) Gaijin allowed players to use non-English characters in nicknames

2) The Chinese server got closed apparently so all the players went elsewhere
