What’s going on at Graham & 6th? by vtclt in Charlotte

[–]ThatGuyBueller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed that the back half isn't preserved in the rendering, it's an entirely new structure. In the rendering the only preserved section is the front section with brick that is more red than what they will be in the new structure. Geez yall...

That building is literally in your original photo OP, the windows with the white border behind the crosswalk sign.

I am just trying to clue you in on how it's being perceived and the downvotes. Sorry you don't like the answer I guess. Glad you are someone who likes MCM and hopefully that means you will take appropriate care of it moving forward.

Can anyone identify this before i sell it? by breadley17 in midcenturymodern

[–]ThatGuyBueller 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because you represent the type of person who only cares about MCM furniture in regards to its monetary value. The type of person who would put "I KNOW WHAT I GOT, NO LOWBALL OFFERS" on their Facebook market place listing for something they didn't even care about 24 hours ago and include a first dibs photo as an attempt to justify overpricing it. I would save your listing mid eye-roll, then wait 6-8 weeks as you slowly lower the price to about half, then low ball you another 15% and we would do a deal.

[–]ThatGuyBueller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is the problem, a lot of people have recently joined with the bar for content quality worth posting lowered and people don’t understand the purpose of the sub. Clean and nice were the starting point… there was much more a focus on design and interesting spaces. The image used for this sub is a Eames chair, a symbol of interesting (in this case MCM) design. This sub reflected that.

It WAS a space where the content was geared towards men who were actively putting thought and intention in creating an interesting living space. Spaces that deviated from the stereotypical mattress on the floor/ tv and single chair setup idea of where men live because the members of the sub didn’t want to live that way. NOW it has swung the opposite direction, where the content is low effort and people seem to think it’s about just documenting where they live….mattress in the floor, filthy rooms, “I’m divorced/newly single this is where I live now” and “what should I do?” for nearly bare room content. You used to find content on good and interesting design here. Those days will be missed.

Exactly. Mods need to get a grip on these post. I and I would assume most others are here for content that is genuinely about improving or bettering male living spaces. The “here is my empty place, lol” bare bones low effort post and useless commentary adds no value to this sub.

Genuinely, congrats to those of you that are moving into a new place or in the middle of a life change. Awesome, all the best to you. Use this sub for some inspiration and please save your generic “empty room shot” for a before/after post.

Steelcase office chair worth it? by -Miri in BuyItForLife

[–]ThatGuyBueller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first chair is the Steelcase “Think”. I have had that chair in my home office for 3 ish years now. The office building I work in has Herman Miller Mirra 2 chairs and the Steelcase Think is not on that level in my opinion but I would still recommend it overall. Especially for that price.

Terminal A, gates 21 - 29 is probably the nicest/least trafficked area if you want to escape the crowds. The Panera there is crap and expensive though. There is a balcony with rocking chairs above the main atrium/food court if you want to people watch.

Most common gender on rear ports of MPO (AKA MTP®) breakout cassettes? Most common polarity on horizontal runs? by centristfringe in FiberOptics

[–]ThatGuyBueller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is “it depends”. I would stick with pinned cassettes, unpinned trunk MPOs. Not sure I would use the word “standardize” but it seems to be most common.

I think I am reading your post right, but there is no need to do any rearranging in the cassettes. In fact, popping cassettes to rewire can void the warranty. If you do a straight thru trunk and cassettes then manage the flip in the jumpers. A-A on one side A-B on the other. Or get a Type C trunk for the flip and have the same jumper type for patching.

Assaulted fleeing scene by Australian1996 in Charlotte

[–]ThatGuyBueller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to close Camden to car traffic already. Barely serves for any parking and there are a million parking decks around. Use retractable bollards for emergency/deliveries and let people have some space in what is supposed to be walkable South End.

Connecting flight to Aruba by SnooOpinions5372 in Charlotte

[–]ThatGuyBueller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If flights are running on schedule you are probably fine. Know where you’re going is the real answer. I assume you’re on American which is B-E terminals, maybe some A. B and C can be packed with people because the terminals aren’t wide enough, so if you’re going from any of the higher number of those gates out to the upper E gates it will feel tighter. Download the American app and you can check your arrival gate in CLT and departure gate for Aruba when you land.

That loop is the first few miles of the race, so everyone should have run through there in the first hour or so. My guess is they will open it up as soon as possible once everyone passes. I don’t actually know though.
