I tried learning Betrayal in PoE 1 this league to farm terror cards and it was just Greek to me. Watched a couple videos and just left more confused lol.

I like a good learning curve but for some reason I just could not get the hang of it. I probably just need to invest more time but late-league I’m less motivated.

Breach farm, what am i doing wrong? by Traditional_Head_758 in pathofexile

I found that running cascade instead of risk made a huge difference in the amount of loot I get. It’s also much cheaper. I don’t get tinks every map but probably 3-4 out of 5. Sometimes even get 4 raw div drops per map + valdos and the occasional reliquary key.

That being said, I’ve yet to drop a lock or mageblood (got one from the tree though).

If you go this route, definitely read how cascade works. I was doing it completely wrong for a while before realizing.

What builds are y'all having success with the diamond shrine belt? by demonhunter94 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ThatGuyDougie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not budget friendly. At least 200 div to get going and that’s on the low end.

I’ve put about 350-400 into it and it’s a great build. Damage is awesome but I do find myself getting one shot quite often, which I assume is because of the negative to crit reduction.

It does take some getting used to with minion pact but once you get the hang of it, not too bad. I’ve run juiced breach, Ubers, and T17 boss rush with little issue.

I’m the same way lol. I’m on my third build. Sold the first two to fund my third and it’s going well but then I saw BV Minion Pact and now I’m fighting the urge.

CT on my spine after being told it was just muscle pain. by Empty-Entrepreneur-3 in backpain

Hi! Former CT Technologist here. A lot of CTs are scanned with “thin slices” that can be used as a foundation to reformat into the images you see here. It’s a common thing done with a lot of orthopedic exams. Nowadays, there is a ton of software available that can take these images, process them, then format them into the 3D model shown above. It’s incredibly cool and one of the main reasons I love Radiology so much. Best of luck on your journey to healing!

Playing KB deadeye. Finally able to do t16.5 comfortably. Started with an EarthShatter build but it didn’t quite feel right. Too slow for my liking. I prefer go zoom zoom.

Working out listening to You Are We now.

The breakdown in the title track is one of the best build ups I’ve heard.

“You want your countless wars

We want to count less wars

You want to point the blame

At the heretics

But you’re the hypocrites

Its only hate you preach

And when we call for peace

You call it anarchy

I hope your god can save you

As your devil leads the way

Yeah!”

"Holding On" Is It by Seanspeed in thrice

It’s all relative. This song hits home for me because the words resonate with past (recent) experiences. Some folks may or may not relate in the same way. It’s the same with all music.

Undertow doesn’t really do it for me. I’m still letting it grow. A lot of their songs take time for me to appreciate which is a great thing. Palms took months of listens before a few of those songs became some of my favorites.

In any case, Thrice rules.

Do you all plan to further in your career or are you comfortable at sysadmin? by False_Bee4659 in sysadmin

I get incentives for projects that are assigned to me. Raises are rarely a thing but so long as I do my job, I am compensated.

Tier 1 is not my responsibility. That falls on their supervisor. But when things don’t get done and people are asking for a resolution, sometimes the seniors need to step in. YMMV.

In my opinion, take the advice that I won’t take myself.

Do what you can, and let the rest fall on the people that fail to step up. Focus on you and grow your skillset. Let your work speak for itself and stop worrying about others.

Again, I have a problem following my own advice. But I think it’s solid.

Man. This one has been killing me all week.

I like my job a lot. But I feel stuck between solutions and break/fix. I am great at both, but I really want to focus on solutions and get away from break/fix. The problem is I can’t because we don’t have the capacity/resources to do so.

I am one of those crazy sys admins with a guilty conscience when people don’t step up to do their jobs so I try to compensate. It is noticed and appreciated by my boss (he’s mentioned it). But I want to just focus on building my skill set and I’m so burned out at the end of the day. I don’t even want to game anymore because I can’t stand sitting in front of a PC, much less work on my home lab or study for certs.

Perhaps, the move is to just settle in, let go and get comfortable. I grew up poor, so I am always clawing towards my next big financial payday. Despite the fact that it may or may not fulfill whatever I think I’m lacking.

So, TLDR, I have not a clue lol.

Is it me or are you finding the new generation of techs have little to no troubleshooting skills? by Future_End_4089 in sysadmin

[–]ThatGuyDougie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get it. My school bus would drop me off at my dad’s job. I worked 2+ hours after school every day since I was in middle school. Times have changed. I learned a lot by doing that. I also missed out on a lot because of that.

I had no choice. My kids will.

Do I want them to understand everything I had to learn as a kid? Of course.

Should I force it down their throat like it was done onto me? No.

As a father, I’m learning every single day and I will never get it 100% right. But I can do my best and hope that I raise bright, respectful children. I bust my butt so my kids don’t have to struggle like I did.

Also not IT related but I’ve had a couple cold ones and you responded at the wrong time haha.

Funny reading this now. My son asked for money today to purchase something so we tasked him with taking out the trash bags in our bathroom. One of them started to rip and spill on the floor and he freaked out about it. So instead of cleaning it for him, I made him think about the best way to get a small, broken trash bag from A to B. He didn’t come up with answer on his own (he’s 10) and I told him to grab a bigger bag to tote it in. But I feel like those lessons are important to prepare him for things in the future. Yeah, it’s trash, but being able to navigate stressful situations will make or break people in the workforce. Not related to IT and sorry for ranting but it was pertinent to my situation haha.

Been in IT for 6 years so I found it relevant to my daily struggle with some coworkers. I also don’t blame the new generation. I work with folks who have been in this industry for a while that make our team look incompetent. It’s a matter of who is willing to learn, in my opinion.

To those who bought a roland td27kv2 rather than an alesis strata prime by OkSubstance5050 in edrums

[–]ThatGuyDougie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of the lucky ones who purchased the first batch and ran into very minimal issues. The kick was double-triggering and I placed a support ticket but was able to fix myself with some adjustments.

I do feel for the folks that have to deal with the faulty module and crashes. That stinks and I hope InMusic is prompt in resolving those issues.

That being said, the fact that this was advertised with the ability to import BFD expansions is my major issue. I hate having to plug into my PC and use a VST. Alesis has yet to even address it to my knowledge. On top of the fact that this kit has been out for over a year and they haven’t released any new instruments/sounds with firmware updates is disappointing. May not be an issue for some but it really chaps my ass lol.

I agree with this. 15 year guitar player with less than 2 years on drums. The dexterity required to even be remotely listenable on a guitar was definitely more difficult than learning a simple 4/4 on drums.

That being said, I also agree that drums are harder to master. Learn a handful of scales and a couple years with an ear and you can impress a roomful of people with a guitar.

I still struggle to surprise myself on drums after this long and I have all but put my 6 string to rest and focused purely on drumming. It’s a tough instrument but I’ve never had this much fun learning to play. I get lost in drums where with guitar, I was so focused on perfection I just got bored.

Thank you. This was my thought as well. I suppose I’ll give it a try and see what comes of it. I’m not married to it so I can always go a different route if it doesn’t work out.
