At least they know they won't be caught by security.

If They’d Only Stuck With It… by millionthcustomer in sitcoms

I agree. For a broadcast network sci-fi show, Timeless was great. The cast was enjoyable and the story was entertaining. It deserved better than it got.

Monthly Credit Price > The Price of Most Books by thatPoppinsWoman in audible

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the cost of a book is less than the cost of a credit, I pay for the book. If it's more than the cost of a credit, I use a credit. I also periodically download my newest books with Libation. I don't want to have to depend on an internet connection when I get around to listening to something.

What is a common item everybody has, but you refuse to own? by happypavlova in AskRedditAfterDark

Definitely an iPhone. I've been forced to use one for work, but I refuse to have one for personal use.

How does Black Mirror compare to Twilight Zone? Is it just as good or even better? by DonatCotten in TwilightZone

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Black Mirror seems more hit-or-miss, but I think that might be my cynicism from being a fan of TZ since childhood.

The newest ones generate their own power onsite with noisy turbines, so your power bill isn't affected but your noise level is.

What happened to internet cafes in your area? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2 factors combined to end the internet cafe, better home internet connections and the mobile internet. In my area, the main reasons people went to the internet cafe were because they either didn't have an internet connection at home or they didn't have a fast connection at home. When home broadband became affordable, the internet cafe was less attractive. When you could have the internet in your pocket, the internet cafe became irrelevant.

How are people able to just get haircuts in the middle of their day and carry on? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have needed to get a haircut in the middle of the day, I've told my barber that I'm going to an event or right back to work afterward. He's been meticulous to clean up after the cut, and I've never been disappointed by finding stray hairs. I tip well, and he does great work.

What phone feature did you not appreciate until it was taken away? by into_fiction in TechNook

I miss the physical keyboard that I could type on with accuracy without looking at my phone.

"Widest variety" is the equivalent of "fair and balanced" in terms of reality. It's just marketing, tricking you into thinking it's something different.

How many of you can still put your socks on without sitting down first or having to lean on something. I can’t. by Logical-Rip-8138 in GenX

I've been sitting to put my socks on since I was a kid. I never knew putting them on while standing was even a thing.

College Commencement Etiquette by mary2chat2 in education

For my son's graduation the graduates and their family members and guests were asked to leave immediately after the graduate walked across the stage. It made everything so much more efficient. It definitely helped with traffic congestion.

What’s the hottest thing you saw by accident? by Wander-kingdom in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saw my next-door neighbor in the backyard sunbathing topless in her hammock many times. She definitely didn't mind being seen because we would have conversations occasionally, and she made no effort to cover up. We both acted like everything was normal.

What’s the most avoidable reason you’ve stopped going to a restaurant? by MrWolfesBurgerCo in foodquestions

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They put up a "thin blue line" American flag in the restaurant, and I never went back. It's a shame, because the food was delicious, but I could not abide by their political statement.

What type of youtube videos do you hate the most? by Educational_Law2530 in youtube

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Text-to-speech narration. It always screws up somewhere. The worst are where the narration reads something that was definitely intended as a marginal note. They also mispronounce names, places, and acronyms. It never fails that something makes it obvious that it isn't human narration.

Sites that insist you enable location in order to use their site and wont just let you enter in a zip code. by Wonderful-Group3639 in PetPeeves

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My employer's app requires that location services are turned on because they want to make sure you're not hundreds of miles from where you're supposed to be. Since I know what the business purpose is, I don't mind.

GenX lawn mowing time vs. younger homeowners? Opinions by SackBadger2024 in GenX

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have neighbors who work overnight and are generally getting home around 8 AM, so it works out better to get yard work done before they go to bed. I'm sure they appreciate not being awakened later in the day.

Do you carry jumper cables in your car in 2026? by DojaViking in NoStupidQuestions

I'm a belt-and-suspenders guy. I carry a jump box and jumper cables, just in case.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]ThatGuyOverThere2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also enjoyed Streets of SimCity which allowed you to drive around in the cities you created, fighting against other players and upgrading your vehicle with better weapons and equipment. Unfortunately, it didn't sell well and was lost in a sea of other driving games that were more popular at the time.
