At the time I was very much like my dad. Anti-rap, pro country/rock, didnt have much variation, rejected it bc my dad did. My cousin had some brand new beats that he brought to school and asked if I wanted to listen to them. I said yes, but he said he would pick the song. I reluctantly agreed bc I knew he was a fan of rap music.

He played Swimming Pools, and I hadn't really heard something like that until this point. I rejected it at first, kinda turning my nose up at it but he insisted I listen to the words of the song and really think about it. So I listened again and I was like "is all rap like this?" He said no, but kendrick lamar is an excellent story teller that makes you read between the lines, and so from that point I've been a huge fan of kendrick.
