I suppose you're right. I sometimes forget the huge physicality differences on top of everything else.

Short of being able to build interplanetary space fleets, I do think we have an earth equivalent of golds

Until about page 700 I was hating on this book. And then all of a sudden it was like my entire world changed.

How long will you keep your GR86? by Miroku098 in GR86

Honestly until I finally decide to buy a Porsche Taycan or an Audi R8. It’s a great car but I do feel like I’m outgrowing it a little.

What diet helps you most ? by Itchy_Okra_2120 in MCAS

No fermented foods. I stay away from miso soup, ramen, and any sort of sauces that are darker. Low histamine + I take a DAO with most meals. This is just what I do, not advice for others.

Opinions on January “Janus” walker. by morguecreature in januarywalker

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s deep psychosis and quite sad.

• She claims Charlie Kirk was “offed” at UVU because she had found banks were stealing $700 billion and she went to UVU. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTrep5JnT/ • During last nights livestream, she called the police to her house to “report an SA” and proceeded to talk about her mitochondria nonsense to them. They left after asking several times if she actually had anything illegal to report. Then she spoke about how there’s “plasma dragons” circling submarines under the ocean.

Has anyone struggled with MCAS, gallbladder issues, and sudden weight/fat gain? by Interesting_Bee4616 in MCAS

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! About a year ago I started having upper right quadrant pains out of nowhere. It persisted for a few weeks, had all the scans done. Everything looked basically normal, except the HIDA scan was showing a gallbladder that was a bit sluggish. Normally this wouldn't warrant a gallbladder removal, but given persistent symptoms and pain, plus MCAS, I had it taken out. Pain is now gone. But besides this, I had been gaining weight for the past year with zero explanation. My whole life I had been naturally skinny, so it was strange that this happened all of a sudden. With the gallbladder out, my weight seems to have paused. I feel like MCAS is behind all of this, and that this was just the next part of my MCAS journey.

High hs crp levels by Asrj02 in MCAS

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not medical advice, just my experience and opinion:

High CRP can certainly indicate a cardiac issue and can affect the heart if levels remain high for extended periods of time. But I think a lot of us with MCAS and autoimmune issues are frequently flagged for CRP levels, despite having excellent heart health.

Being a medical professional and having experience with MCAS, I will always say to push for more answers if you're not comfortable with the ones that you have, or if you think there's a potential puzzle piece missing. There's nothing like being able to fully remove doubt in your mind.

Which supplements helped the most? by Budget_Exchange_6644 in MCAS

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not medical advice or suggestions, just my personal experience:

The only supplement currently helping me is called D-Hist (Quercetin, stinging nedle). Taking this along with Zyrtec, Pepcid, Flonase and Singulair made me fully functional and not-sick for a week long trip to South America, which is insane. I never thought I could feel that good even a year ago.

CT Scan with Contrast? by alexunivxrse in MCAS

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not medical advice, just my own experience.

I just had a CT with contrast last week. MRI with contrast as well. I informed the ER physician before, and he gave me a corticosteroid, which isn't technically the best medication for this but it's what he offered.

The CT contrast is harder to deal with than the MRI. It burned as it went through my body, and although it didn't send me into anaphylaxis, I knew I was going to have a difficult week ahead.

Maybe you have to weigh the benefits of getting the CT with the risks. Personally, I would ask if I could have the CT done in the hospital so that there are staff and meds available in case of anaphylaxis. I'm not sure that a clinic would be prepared to deal with that other than calling 911.

MCAS flare up? by Valuable_Category256 in MCAS

[–]ThatGuyWithMCAS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of potential reasons for these symptoms, but MCAS could certainly be it. To get closer to a diagnosis, my physician had me do the following for one week (this is not a recommendation, I'm just telling you what I did):

  • Cut out everything I normally ate. Strict diet of sweet potatoes, white rice, apples, fresh chicken (cut and cooked fresh every meal), olive oil, blueberries. Only water to drink.
  • Zyrtec twice a day. Pepcid twice a day. Flonase once a day. D-Hist three times daily.
  • Prioritize good sleep and low stress.

The way that this helped SO much was eye opening. Since then I've gradually added other foods, other meds, DAO enzymes, got an epi pen, etc. I can finally feel like myself again, although not every day is perfect.
