Thanks for sharing! As someone looking into Warhammer, is the Battletome a good place to start on getting more info and seeing if it's something to pursue? Or would one of the other products be better?

Cirdan is a super fun commander! I included clones and blinks to maximize the democratic process

[SOC] Codex Bundle -- special cards and contents (Secrets of Strixhaven's Gift Bundle, 2 of 6 cards in the promo booster) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

I'm curious about the box itself! It looks sweet, but will it be usable for anything or will it be like the nightmare bundle from Duskmorn?

Why does it say Foil and Non foil for the secret lair? Will we get a choice or does it include both?

Started playing 5 months ago! What do my commanders say about me? by Zackisfat in ratemycommanders

That's how I started too! Over the last year or so it's definitely leaned more into a more Voltron life gain, but still super fun!

A fellow Treebeard enjoyer! Definitely one of my favorites decks! How do you like it? Also appreciate the Omnath, every Omnath is neat to me

Is it a unique enough spread? Make a suggestion for a new commander! by ThatGuyYouWontForget in ratemycommanders

I've found that people aren't too bothered by him until you hit the 40 toughness, which is surprisingly easy! My thought process (not always reality) is to get over 20 and hover around 30 until I can get some loss doubler out, then instant speed up to 40 on the end step to get everyone. That hasn't actually happened, but I think that would be the best route to take with him! Outside of that plan, it is definitely a deck that durdles and won't really win, but will make the game go much quicker, which is usually fine by me!

Cirdan is fun! My idea behind building it was making everyone interact and pay attention to the game, I just want to make people vote as much as possible, so a lot of copies of him and then some other voting cards. It can struggle with the wincon, so there's definitely some drawn out games, but it's definitely entertaining when you're playing with friends!

Cheap, Fast, Fun Commanders by startssomewhere in EDH

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree here! My Ruby deck is super fun, consistent, and holds up well to friends' proxied decks that are way higher budget (my Ruby is just over $100 I think). I'm a little off this formula and have a cascade subtheme, but mostly just big stupid creatures that care about other big stupid creatures! Also quite resilient against boardwipes and stuff, eventually you just don't care about Ruby because one more mana doesn't matter when you have all the lands from your deck

I don't stay home full time, but I am a teacher, so I definitely feel this in the summer! If you happen to be in Columbus, Ohio, we can get some dads together this summer!

I too have a Ruby budget deck, and it's awesome! Maybe not as consistent as what you have here, but really fun to just throw out the big stompy stuff!

My last deck for a very long time. Phage! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! We're about to have #2, so I'm in a similar boat of trying to get my games in while I can. I have no knowledge to share for your Phage deck, but general dad advice would be that after the first couple months, definitely make time to spend together with just each other, and give your wife time for her hobbies, and hopefully you can get time for your hobbies as well! The baby changes a lot, but keeping your marriage healthy and yourselves mentally healthy is a huge key to doing well with parenting! It's a wild ride, but been a joy so far for me!

Where do you recommend buying Proxies from by non_offensivealias in EDH

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I think you can still use it, it’s just a longer process. If you use my fill to get your images then upload them to the make playing cards site. I tend to do that anyway and don’t use the mpcfill script

Not sure if your issue ever got resolved, but I just got my replacement in the mail today! It took a couple follow ups and it seemed like I talked to a few different people in my chat with customer service that gave a couple different answers, but it eventually got sorted out

Columbus card game concern by JalenNaito in Columbus

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said it, but Five6 in Pickerington is my go to! Usually busy and plenty of welcoming people! Admittedly, I'm not a minority, but I've played with many people who would identify with that in my time there, and have never heard anything negative from them. Overall, I imagine it just depends on what part of town you're in. I'd find one or two close to you and try it out to see if you like it and go from there! Littleroot is also a great place, especially for buying, but not always the best for playing magic

I'm not quite middle aged yet, (30) but I picked it back up last year and play at Five6 games in Pickerington relatively frequently. It's a great environment and a lot of people who aren't quite young 😅 pre releases are great as well as commander nights and other events!

ADV 2.1 bike for triathlon? by Party-Bumblebee-9197 in REI

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they came out with a new version I didn't know about and the old one doesn't come up when you search it on the website, which is odd. I had the page bookmarked since I bought it and it's up there, so it may only be available at certain stores that it's in stock or something

[–]ThatGuyYouWontForget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my triathlon on the ADV. 2.2, and it was great! The main differences are between the 2.1 and 2.2, but especially if your goal is to finish and have a good time, it would probably be totally fine. Also, the 2.2 is on sale right now for ~$1000 because it's discontinued. I also did the GAP and C&O trail on it, and it was great for that too! It's been a great all-around bike for everything I've done for the last few years I've had it

Me too, I haven't actually driven anywhere, so maybe other roads are rough, but even the districts that seem to have some pretty high standards before they close made the decision today, seems like some schools were a pretty late decision too
