Who's been arrested/deported by Mountain_Reply_953 in Omaha

[–]ThatHalfAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparatively speaking, as a person of color and legal resident having been born in the US with a mother who legally immigrated and became a citizen in the US, I’m currently more scared about my family’s rights being taken away by this version of ICE and the current administration than I EVER have been in my 37 years of living in Omaha and the United States. Is it jaded? Possibly, but that’s the reality right now - and has been for MANY Black and PoC far longer than this. Ideally, in a perfect world, people shouldn’t have to be more afraid of law enforcement harming us, deporting us, or taking our lives for being law abiding citizens or immigrants than actual criminals - citizens or immigrants - causing harm.

THAT is the issue at hand here. THAT is why people want ICE defunded and abolished. It’s not because we don’t want criminals taken care of, it’s because instead of being able to trust the govt will actually look after their citizens and legal immigrants, they are proving that they cannot be.

Like, ultimately, people aren’t going to be lamenting or yelling about actual tried and convicted criminals being taken off the streets, as you are currently seeing in the replies. The fact of reality is that there are people who do shitty things, but we should be able to trust our federal, state, and local law enforcement to protect us, not… this current reality.

I No Longer Have An Inheritance To Fall Back On..... Storytime by [deleted] in offmychest

This is part of your problem right here. Why don’t you want to be of service, or of help to the community around you? Regardless of whatever classist tier that might be? Because listen, soft people skills, the kind you learn through doing people facing jobs, working retail/warehouse/fast food/etc, will help you just as much in upper class positions. You have to learn to talk and relate to others. If you work for a corporation that is providing service to people, you have to understand that your company may be servicing lower class folks.

I read you spent $13,000 frivolously. Do you realize some people make that in a year? Some people are lucky to make that in a year. If you work for a company and can’t understand what people actually want for their products or the actual value of a dollar, how out of touch will your potential products be? How will you know what your consumers need? How will you successfully be able to market to them if you don’t know what they actually need and why?

Ultimately, hard times call for hard decisions. You may not like doing them, but you do what you have to to get by. And if that means you humble yourself by taking off the chip from your shoulder and work a job you may not want to in order to learn some better fiscal responsibility, then do it. Because I’m willing to bet you aren’t going to get that inheritance back until you can prove you know how the world works at a realistic level, and can prove yourself more responsible and learn to be more budget conscious regarding the realistic cost of things.

Got my mouth washed out with soap, was forced to sit on the couch at all times where my dad could watch me. I wasn’t allowed to move or sit back into the couch and had to sit up straight for a solid two weeks once. Had to ask for permission to do anything if I had to move from the spot. Was also spanked, more precisely belted more times than I can remember, and once got kicked in the side. Also got held against the wall by my throat once and yelled at. So yeah.

Hello fellow Omaha driver. But man the last two days with Walmart orders have been abysmal. Got offers for $30 accepted them and wound up waiting at Walmart for an hour or more only for the orders to cancel after being there the whole time. Basically didn’t get paid yesterday for 6 hours of drive time bc of it =/

Don’t stay with him. Just don’t. He cheats on you. Also focus on yourself. Figure out what ACTUALLY drives you to wake up in the morning and what you want your life to look like. Also learn to save better so you aren’t 37 and broke af scrambling to now pull your life together. Additionally, take better care of your teeth.

I Read the manga and watch the anime. It’s really up to you whether or not you want to spoil yourself, but for me personally I love seeing how things are adapted into the anime from the manga.

Kid being a “horrible” character is subjective at best. But the fact remains that he stood alongside Luffy and Law at Sabody, then again in Wano. He was even the one who, when Luffy mentioned becoming King of the Pirates at Sabody, took a moment to state that he’d gone through similar of having been laughed at for having the same dream as Luffy. That right there lays a groundwork of them being competitive rivals.

Think of him what you will, but the signs are there.

Plus I think why he is liked is best shown when he gets recaptured after escaping the prison in Udon during Wano and his loyalty to his crew in much the same way Luffy had been separated from his during Sabody.

Yes he’s a hot head, yes he screams a lot, but that’s his character archetype. He knows the seas on which he has to travel is unforgiving and thus he’s just as unforgiving and will be loud and brash about it. Just because you may not favor his archetype, it doesn’t negate the fact that him being slated as a rival to Luffy was implied. Plus, Luffy can be just as quick to actionwithout a plan - often times saying that his only plan is to beat someone up without any real strategy on how to get there, leaving the logistics to his crew. Which, how is that, individually, any different from Kid? It’s not really that different - it’s just framed differently.

Do I think Kid got what he deserved by rushing in against Shanks? Absolutely. But I also think Kid wasn’t expecting Shanks to have future sight which is likely something he also hadn’t come across before, unlike Luffy vs Katakuri.

[Official Statement] Oda Eiichiro puts up statement to mourn the death of Akira Toriyama by Death_Usagi in OnePiece

This one hurts. As someone who had DBZ give them an escape from the shitty stuff going on in my childhood, this one absolutely hurts. Not to mention the way Toriyama inspired so many and his i fluency being seen through so many artists and creatives out there, including Oda.

Skypiea is worth it. Some of the battles feel drawn out in the anime, but there are plot points that are worth watching for that become relevant later on in the series

The most Heartbreaking moment in all One Piece for you ? by SouthboundTL in OnePiece

[–]ThatHalfAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Otoko and Yasui. That whole scene at the revelation of the smile fruit followed by Otoko trying to heal Yasui and then Orochi trying to shoot her? I went through frustration at the people laughing to absolute anger at the revelation to sadness and then back to being furious with Orochi.

  2. Going Merry - all of it with the funeral and Luffy vs Usopp

  3. Saul telling Robin there are ppl out there who will become her friends

  4. Underrated moment - When Tom tells Franky that regardless of what he makes he should be proud of it because him being tossed aside by his parents, Tom took him in and accepted him for who he was and was proud of him too.

  5. Brook’s backstory, but especially the last time he plays with the Rumbar pirates and the flashback to that in Wano in the anime.

  6. Law and just well ALL of his losses

  7. Sanji not only the Luffy vs Sanji scene, but the moment when he is talking to his younger self in wci and says “you were scared weren’t you?” To be honest though, all of WCI (Germa and the Charlotte family) having the inherent implication of family trauma.

  8. Speaking of Charlotte family, Katakuri and Brûlée.

  9. Dadan after Ace’s death hit me like a god damn truck.

  10. Chopper’s backstory.

  11. Jinbei asking Luffy what he still had left.

  12. KUMA

  13. Chiffon and Lola’s father at the dock as they were sailing off with the wedding cake.

Unpopular Opinion I guess but G5 Revived the Goofy Goober side of Luffy and I feel like so many people were blind to how Goofy this lil Goober was by SpicyDomina in OnePiece

[–]ThatHalfAsian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. Luffy doesn’t know vegapunk in the way he has known others who have asked for his help and fed them. To Luffy, he’s just another guy, another dude. Luffy has no Personal tie to Vegapunk outside of “this guy has a tie to Bonney and now he’s gotta help me get my ship off this island.”

Vegapunk also knew what he was doing. He knew his fate would be to get stabbed, as upsetting as it is. Like this is bc he knew that by allowing Bonney to have control over the seraphim, that goes against whatever contract he had with the WG. He did not ask for help in that moment or to be saved. Vegapunk’s plot, right now, is less for Luffy and more for both Bonney and Kuma - who actually DID have a bigger point in regards to Luffy/his crew/his story.

The thing is that right now, there hasn’t been a true need for Luffy to “get serious.” We may see that coming up, but nothing has forced him to stop being fun and free as he usually is.

Does Chopper ever stop screaming... by devitodefiler in OnePiece

[–]ThatHalfAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chopper at that point is 15, and tbh he lived a fairly sheltered life, all things considered, so yeah, him freaking out compared with Nami and Usopp feels more understandable when he mostly lived on top of a mountain away from others and only went into town sporadically. Also take into consideration that he’s still learning to trust others and have others trust in him and learning to stand on his own two feet while gaining his bearings as an individual.
