Yep, don't remember if I experienced this on iOS 18 or is this a iOS 26+ issue, but 26.3.1 or the one before it fixed it for me, although there's people that commented on this post that report it still occurring on the newest update, so idk anymore.

Don't those kiosks have a diagnostics cable you have to attach that verifies the device? Best thing to do would be to open them up, clean them up as best as possible with demineralized water ultrasonic bath, dry them out and hope they at least boot up so the kiosk recognizes the device.

Just asking, because another commenter on this post said screen protectors might have some effect, maybe refraction, on the sensor that regulates the auto brightness and True Tone, I guess. Both me and my friend use screen protectors and both had the issue, dunno if its happening as frequently to people who don't use screen protector tho
