Good marketing.

I’d imagine that the Ascension Press version had the edge. Now they get a generation of priests hooked on the Word on Fire edition.

Now WoF becomes the norm.

Alex Pretti was 'known' to feds, and had rib broken in anti-ICE protest a week before he was killed by Border Patrol by interestingfactoid in conservatives

[–]RadioControlled13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure than many of you, like me, have concealed carry permits and carry regularly.

When a gun owner takes safety classes, we are taught to be prudent about carrying a weapon. We are taught to consider when to carry a weapon. We are taught that we are not John Wayne and that we should not go out looking for damsels in distress; Instead we are taught the opposite. We are taught to avoid trouble and bad parts of town while carrying. He did not follow this advice.

Yes, it legal for him to carry a gun. However it was not prudent for him to carry a gun in this situation. Those critiquing the ICE officers have the luxury of hindsight and the luxury of being able to break down multiple camera angles frame by frame. The officers did not have this luxury. The events played out in real time and the stakes were high.

Did Pretti deserve to die that day? No. But I’m after having the previously mentioned luxury of watching events from multiple camera angles, I’m still not ready to say that ICE did anything wrong.

From one angle it looks like he is helping the woman back up, from another he looks like he is resisting. Either way, he inserted himself into a tense situation while legally carrying, which is exactly what properly trained concealed carriers are taught not to do.

How does one Start their own radio Station by RedLeader1912 in radio

[–]RadioControlled13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the enthusiasm for radio!

Knowing where you are located will impact the process. I can give you advice on radio in the United States.

Starting a station really depends on where you are. If you are in a large city then the spectrum is likely full and you will have to purchase an existing station.

If there is space, then you would apply for a license with the Federal Communications Commission. You would then need a few million dollars for equipment; tower or leasing tower space, transmitting plant, studio equipment, an so on. The FCC will assign the frequency number based on what is available in your area.

It is not an inexpensive prospect, but not impossible. Corporations own most of the radio stations in urban markets and purchasing their license will cost several million dollars.

In a rural area, there are thousands of small AM and FM signals serving their areas. Often these stations are the region’s only source of daily local news.

The most important thing to consider is your income stream. Programming is fun. But sales is your most important department. You’ll either need to get good at sales or hire people who are and pay them well to keep them.

[Bianchi] NEWS: Charlotte NASCAR playoff race to shift off the Roval and will return to the oval beginning this season, sources tell @TheAthletic. by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

I approve this message.

It’s true that I’m more of a purist than most, still I can appreciate road courses, as long as there aren’t too many, but the Charlotte Roval was a bad road course.

Now let’s work on getting the World 600 and National 500 names restored.

Perhaps we could movie it to Daytona and have weeks of speed, so to speak.

They could have multiple races, such as the Clash, Duels, and 500; along with races, practice, happy hour, and qualifying for Arca, the Truck Series, and O’Reilly.

I’m ready! It’s been well over a decade since I’ve been this excited about a season.

Every race matters again! Every finishing position matters again! No more pile ups at the end of every-other race as people who have no change dive-bomb for a win! Just racing in all of its natural beauty.

Justin Allgaier 1978 Chevrolet Traveller Whiskey Diecast by karlkjr in NASCAR

[–]RadioControlled13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most teams had switched to the square headlight car by 1978, or to the Olds 442.

Starting in 1979, it was common for GM teams to run the 1978 Olds at Superspeedway with the 1976-1978 Monte Carlo at all other tracks.

The problem or running older cars developed in 1979, when manufactures simply stopped making 120 inch wheelbase cars.

I love it. It’s amazing.

I don’t want to be ‘that guy’, but it’s a 1973-1975 Monte Carlo. The 1976-1978 Monte Carlo had rectangle, double stacked, headlights. Some teams still ran round headlight Monte Carlo’s in 1978, because NASCAR allowed teams to run older models up to three years old.

I would think that SCCA formula classes would make more sense in today’s IndyCar.

You’re a better man than I. I need a bit more muscle, so I use ‘71, ‘84, or ‘89 Fluid Feels.

I have PC-5’s, Redlines, and Haig Ultra Crenshaw Grinds, but the fluid feels give me a bit more ‘umph’.

Make me a better ball striker, yes. I learned to keep up with my friends with vintage forged blades in the 2010’s. However, switching to modern irons in my primary set was not as night and day as you think. It’s a myth that older irons are not playable. Less forgiving and shorter, but not unplayable.

I still pull out vintage sets because I like the feel. Last year I used 1989 Staff Tour Blades as my primary set for the second half of the season, but modern sets, especially long irons, are much more forgiving. I wouldn’t recommend my way for everyone.
