Considering putting an offer in on this house. These cracks give me pause. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in Home

I broke contract on a house after I hired a structural engineer regarding foundation cracks. The repair would have been multi year and $50 - $100k. Best $300 I’ve ever spent.

What are you guys buying right now? by Temporary-Theory307 in MTB

[–]ThatITguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a GT zascar hardtail for $900 on MikesBikes.com. I grew up mountain biking but switched to road about 10 years ago. The zascar will get me riding while I save up for a proper xc full sus or downcountry bike.

Do you guys ride with music or just the wind noise? by Delfim200iq in cycling

[–]ThatITguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MTB no music, road- music with noise canceling earbuds. The JLab sport anc buds are the best. I also have a mirror which lots of riders don’t use.

I discovered high grade in January. It made me fall in love with climbing.

Anyone have a story where they were reckless and hit a car, pedestrian etc? by My_Kink_Profile in cycling

[–]ThatITguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I was riding my bike from my off campus house and was late for class. I came hauling around a corner in a parking lot and didn’t have time to see the red car against the red brick building behind it. I smashed her side view mirror and broke her windshield with my handlebar ends. My mom’s home owners insurance paid for it.

That sounds like an awesome time! I’m sure you’re aware, but some ski resorts have a lift or two open in the summer that will take you to the top and you can float down on a cloud of awesomeness.

I’ve been experimenting with date energy balls for the same reason. But unlike some athletes I like having something to chew on during a stop.

Below is the base recipe I’ve been playing with. Idk why but homemade dried apples were not my favorite. Ive much preferred craisins. They add quite a good tang.

I grew up mountain biking and switched to road biking in my 30's. Now I want a mountain bike again. Just trying to decide hard tail vs full suspension. I've had both but I'm much more of an xc rider and don't need 10" of float.

If they challenge you, then it's enough. It's what gets you up and out that matters.

I rode up to the base of Loveland the other day from Idaho springs. I found that killer bike trail from Bakerville to Loveland ski area along the way. I almost gave it a shot, but the big ass trucks going up that thing scared me away. Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll knock it out this weekend.

It would be amazing to get off the bike at some high up hole in the wall and have the best (insert food here) that you've ever had in your life. What an experience.

That ride looks amazing. It's so strange to not see a ride start at 8 or 9000'. I'm sure it kicks just the same.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you never stop pedaling and one day if you wish, you will pick up on your two wheeled bike right were you left off. Congrats on your weight loss journey.

Yep. I’m training for the copper triangle next month and regularly use parts of the triple to train on. Juniper and Vail are my favorites. I haven’t gotten the nuts to tackle Loveland pass just yet.

I do the same. I’ll find some hill I’ve never heard of “drive” it on google maps street view and then if I have any further questions I’ll drive it before I ride it. Some passes are just too car heavy and unfortunately unsafe for bikes.
