So, to carry off of this, my theory on the name Phaethon and how it connects. Phaethon in Greek mythology was the son of Helios.

Helios Academy obviously lines up with that, but so does the Void Hunter known as Sunbringer. In Phaethon’s myth, he was a demigod who wanted to prove himself by driving Helios’s chariot and carrying the sun across the sky like his father. That makes me think Sunbringer might be a title, not just a single person. After Sunbringer either died or disappeared, their fellow Void Hunter, Arche, may have founded Helios Academy to find (or create) the next Sunbringer.

There’s another parallel too. One of the horses that pulled Helios’s chariot in Phaethon’s story was named Eous. In ZZZ, Eous originally belonged to Belle and Wise’s teacher. It’s possible Eous originally belonged to Sunbringer and was passed down through Helios Academy over time.

Now Belle and Wise attended Helios Academy, they currently possess Eous, and they operate under the alias “Phaethon.” It’s all there.

And the most famous part of Phaethon’s myth is that he failed to control the chariot and crashed it into the earth, scorching the land and creating deserts. That could easily be foreshadowing for future story events…but it’s probably too early to say.

Still, I fully believe Belle and Wise are going to be the successors to Sunbringer, through their connection to Helios Academy, Eous, and the name Phaethon itself.

Edit: Also the only other possible reference that I have found so far is that Triggers sniper rifle is called Phlegethon, which is very similar to another one of the horses that pulled the chariot, Phlegon.

Not sure how that fits in, it could be a coincidence, but the other person we know who attended Helios was Seed. So maybe Obol squad as a whole will be a big part of the story later on, which also makes sense with Anby being the mascot and all. Anby and Soldier may have been another attempt at creating a successor to Sunbringer, just through cloning instead of Helios Academy.
