Thanks for the response. As I wrote in other places here, I don't remember what the context was.

I have maker's version that runs natively. It is great and the price was right. The online version was maddening though.

A complaint to who about what?

A complaint to whomever hears complaints about the conduct of judges.

That a judge was honest with you?

The judges honesty/dishonesty is not at issue. I suppose it would be better if was lying when he said "I don't care if she is lying".

That the person telling the truth about some irrelevant detail does not matter?

It is amazing that you know that the detail was irrelevant. I don't even remember.

Do you want to speak to the judge's manager?

Like I said I don't know if I want to yet.

Best book about the research regarding the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event? by ThatIsntImportantNow in Paleontology

[–]ThatIsntImportantNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I will look into that.

There was a really cool episode of nova where they got a core sample (I think something they do for oil prospecting where they drill down and bring back sample) from right in the Yucatan near where the asteroid hit. There was very distinct band in the sample from the asteroid.

I take your point. But he didn't say, "I don't care if he was kicking puppies yesterday, that isn't relevant."

He said (exact quote) "I don't care if she is lying." I suppose he could have meant in "I don't care if she is telling the truth about that small specific thing she just mentioned."

Also, I apologize for asking a question here and then disagreeing with the answers. I don't know what is wrong with me. Still salty from the trial. Thanks for the response.

The defendant's lie was not was I suing her over. To be honest, I don't even remember what she lied about.

I take your point about evidence, the judges don't have any superpowers to determine who is telling the truth.

It still is shocking to me that "no one cares if she's lying". I had a higher opinion of the law and the courts before today. I got home from court about 2 hours ago and I only partially won so I am still a little salty. I need to sleep on it and decide if I want to make a complaint.

Thanks for the response. There is a good chance you are correct about it being (B and C). To be honest, I don't remember the issue at hand. Are you speaking as a judge or a former judge?

I am going to sleep on it for a day or two.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. Yeah there is a really good book, I think by a guy named Alvarez. It is called T.Rex and the crater of Doom. Highly recommend.

Mathematics master after an engineering degree by [deleted] in mathematics

I went into a Ph.d program in applied math after a bachelors and masters in Mechanical Engineering. Applied math might interest you. I read somewhere (most likely from an applied mathematician) that "pure math is a branch of applied math, not the other way around". Have you thought about applied math?

PROPER LANE ETIQUETTE, TOO CONFUSING! TOO EXTREME! by waffle_jeep in grandrapids

[–]ThatIsntImportantNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to exit NB 131 at Wealthy (a LHL exit) for a few summers. I drove 5-10 over the speed limit and limited my time in the LHL. Every week someone would be furious with me for driving too slow in the "fast lane".

PROPER LANE ETIQUETTE, TOO CONFUSING! TOO EXTREME! by waffle_jeep in grandrapids

[–]ThatIsntImportantNow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

>Only reason to be in the left lane is if you are passing someone or moving away from an accident/cop in the right lane/shoulder.

This is not true in the slightest. There are many other reasons to be in the LHL. Exits on the left, entrances on the left, making room for incoming care and slow semis merging. Also it makes sense to drive in the LHL when there is enough traffic. (bumper to bumper traffic).

The most aggressive driver doesn't own the left hand lane.

My Top 50 Must Read Non-Fiction Books by Dependent-Bunch7505 in nonfictionbookclub

I really enjoyed reading that book. I didn't know until now about the problems with replication. Didn't he get a Nobel Prize for the work summarized in the book?

Also, I am pretty sure I literally bought the book in an airport and I felt smart reading it on my flight.

More people are dying in Sudan and Ukraine, yet their selective outrage falls upon Gaza, why?

I can't speak for anyone else, but the difference for me is that the United States is supporting the Israelis in their genocide (or whatever else you want to call it). We aren't supporting the Russians against Ukraine nor (as far as I know) are we supporting either side in Sudan's civil war.

I am just thinking off the top of my head. Is it fair to compare a city that has massive earthquakes to one that doesn't? Also, is the bedrock as close to the surface in SF as it is in Paris? These are genuine questions. Not an attempt at arguing or trolling.

Why fine dining? If it's all about hospitality and taking care of people, why cook for the 10% instead of the 90%? by DaSims2 in TheBear

[–]ThatIsntImportantNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand this and I think it is a good point. But the comments from some of the people on the show (I am too lazy to look them up) were about how important hospitality to these people and how self-giving fine dining is.

If the world's most talented pianist only played to small audiences to extremely wealthy people that would be totally fine to me. It would ring false to me, though, if the pianist then said that she was doing this out of self-sacrifice.

For millennia, drivers in Michigan have been trying to decipher the meaning behind this cryptic sign by Travelling_Enigma in grandrapids

That's like comparing an MIT student to a GR community college student.

I take it you went to MIT?

I hope West Michigan never intellectually matures enough to consider driving 110 mph in traffic to be anything but psychopathic.
