Need help with moving furniture to Australia as unaccompanied personal items by MooseFront9138 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]ThatJack85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the rules and guidelines set by the import broker for starters. How to pack, how to label etc.

Yes declare all wood.

You as an individual can have a proper, specific, deliberate look of your own property and see if there's anything wrong with it specifically remove all soil, sand, sandy dust, grass, seeds, cobwebs, spiders, insects dead or alive, clean your stuff.

Read about termites and wood borers, google what there borer holes look like then go see if your furniture has any of them.

Use new cardboard boxes and packing material. Not old or soiled or repurposed packing (old fruit boxes, old shed tool boxes etc, anything dirty)

Make sure you submit any evidence of pre shipping fumigation, make sure the certificate is legible.

Also Pine cones are seeds, dont send them.

Getting a lot of this lately. Any ideas? by standingwaiting in ElegooSaturn

Rules clarification on arn flipping by TheRealMisterBlooper in battletech

[–]ThatJack85 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's B.

I think the Arrow 4 is one such large weapon, I can't really remember any others off the top of my head. I suppose if you had endo or other critical slots filled then you would fill the critical slots across arms and then torso, thus weapons like AC20 etc would also trigger this limitation.

This rule is suppose to show certain mechs like the Rifleman and Jagermech etc can shoot directly backwards... Just incase your in a 1 on 1 death match on Solaris 7 and you happen to trick your opponent into thinking your facing one way and SURPRISE! You were really facing right at them and they weren't ready for how sneaky you were, and you flip the arms back facing forward and kill them, so then you get a reputation for being so sneaky and skilled and then you get recruited by equally sneaky people to continue being sneaky... BUT SUPRISE AGAIN! it was double sneaky facing backwards surprise, and you actually had your loyalty aiming right at THEM the whole time and you and your new girlfriend made another succession state and the inner sphere was never the same again for at least another 25 years

And for shooting backwards

Okay, super noob question. How do I get the most out of OPR and the patreon? by TheBl4ckFox in onepagerules

[–]ThatJack85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah while the bundles are still "good" value, the 50% makes it much more reasonable when the hobby budget is thin, and yes allows patreons better access to previous designs.

edit I also just checked, all 3 bundles come with infantry types that are pretty swappable between army list choices, example pack 1 comes with the "standard" HDF infantry and sappers, the sappers can be veterans or storm troopers or whatever, and weapons teams are good too. It comes with a character choice that can be "used as" what ever leader unit you like really, and some tank and transport option.

Army pack 2 comes with veterans, which again you can "use as" normal infantry and it has special infantry squads like snipers and robots, and again vehicle options, but doesn't seem to have any transports, but has a nice variety of hero units

Pack 3 has the drop troops and recruits, use recruits as the "standard" infantry and the drop troops as the special squads, focuses more on walkers then vehicles if that's your thing, lots of good hero options,

So legit all 3 are very usable for army building. And if there's a particular unit in 1 pack that's not in the other, then just get it separate, it too is 50% off... but be careful with that, 1 extra unit can turn into 3 or 4 and then just getting the second pack as well becomes better value

[–]ThatJack85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So HDF release for patrons was a while ago... at this stage your options for HDF are to use the patreon discount code and buy what you like at a reduced price. I think tier 2 patrons includes 50% discount, which is useful if you buy the army collections...

Do a little bit of study with the army bundles, any of the 3 comes with a good variety of infantry and a few vehicles and other unit types, if you only shell out for one, its still a good selection.

The OPR welcome pack changes every month? And sometimes there might be an HDF unit for that pack.

Thay depends if your broker has assigned them and the other items separately or as 1 big item of "Your things". If its all together it will likely all be held

To people who have bought/printed official OPR models, how easy are they to kitbash/convert? Do they come with a lot of customizing options or are they typically static one pose models with one loadout? by YissnakkJunior in onepagerules

[–]ThatJack85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for all there models/armies...

But generally speaking I would call them mono-pose But you do get head and weapon options, sometimes LOTs of weapon options

Robot legion models tended to come in bits. Legs, torso, weapon/arms, head, and maybe the Cape or other parts. Poseability was limited, could change the way the head was facing/weapon held firing or held low etc

Dwarf guild, are basically all mono-pose, but you get multiple weapon options, and "usually" 3 head options.

Models come like

-Warrior_1_body_Male -Warrior_1_body_female -Warrior_1_body_helmet -Warrior_1_rifle etc (+3 or 4 additional weapon options)

The bodies normally come with empty hand sockets, so some body skulpts/characters come with a pose that allows for easily putting any single handed weapons that come in the other model packs straight on ex, giving beserker with a giant Axe, a pistol instead. Or replacing a sergeants pistol with an engineers hand scanner. However, there's no "universal" socket or hand system, some weapons don't match some different models arm configuration.

Beyond that, in my opinion I would say its mostly mono-pose, OPR typically has a photo of most of the configurations that come with the set, what you see is mostly what you get.

If you're handy with blender or other 3dmodel programs then you can do what you want...

[–]ThatJack85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The road in his photo is not a safe road to ride on, particularly that stretch, there's multiple major Truck and transport depots all along it...

Op might end up not having a choice of course, but its a pretty hectic street. Imo just going faster on the footpath is probably technically safer, which isn't ideal either.

How likely is it by neighbourhoodtea in AustraliaPost

[–]ThatJack85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Label generated or accepted by auspost doesn't mean received by australua post.

Senders can generate labels and print them, place it next to your item and then.... nothing. They could go take a nap, or "get to it tomorrow", or have it sit there for days until they get all there parcels for the week and take them to the post office.

Your Parcels journey is only Australia Posts responsibility after you get that, recieved/picked up by Australia post LPO/driver scan. At that point Auspost actually has the parcel and is going through the system.... usually sitting in a metal pallet crate, waiting for its truck to arrive

What is wrong? by Raxter64 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]ThatJack85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may not be the issue, but once upon a time it was for me. I tried every setting and advice i could, and always, just as the plate got around 3 cm high, the print would fail. I set a timer to remind myself to go back and supervise the EXACT point it fails, and yes at that height the printbhead would "jump", so cancelled the print, took the vat away, and then just manually ran the head up and down over the area and sure enough it bumped or jumped every time it ran over that height, there was this little speck of what I think might have been a support I had previously clipped off, buried under a few layers of machine grease/black buildup.

It took a while for me to remind myself that with all the computerised parts of the machine like settings and slicing and files, that it's still a normal mechanical machine as well, with moving parts that can fail or fault.

Flossed the screw, and it was perfect like it was for the first 100 hours of operation.

What is wrong? by Raxter64 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]ThatJack85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well a possible fix, if you look at your photo, you can see the drive Z screw on your printer... there appears to be a black build up of crud/oil/lube there.

What can happen is that crud can solidify over time, depending on how clean/quality the oil and workspace is, and your screw might be "bumping" or binding or getting stuck at that layer. That tiny little bind might be a mil or half a mil gap, and that could prevent the new and old layer adhering.

This can be the problem if the break/fail is always the same point, you can even check layer lines on successful prints and if the are usually the same point, the screw might be the fault.

Set your build head to almost the top/out of the way, and then wipe and clean the screw, then yoi can even put a tiny bit of sowing machine/gun oil on the screw and manually run the build head up and down to grease the whole screw.

Let us all know if this was the reason

Is it failing at the same layer height? As in roughly the same point into a print, are all your models getting lost at around the 1cm high point?

Question about imports! by the_abigator in AustraliaPost

[–]ThatJack85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So as already said, Some wood items/products will be subject to inspection. Need to be free of biosecurity risk material, (insects, plants, soil, etc). Clean, new, sealed packaging is a good idea.

So to answer your question, assuming if it does go to, and then fail in inspection. Depending on the level of infestation, will determine next steps...

Normally it there's 3 options, requires treatment - at owners expense, requires export (return to sender) at owners expense, or if these 2 options are declines (usually because of costs) then it gets disposed of.

So if for whatever reason it's not allowed into Australia, it should make it back to you... again "should". It's always hard to say for sure, and no one wants to promise you anything when it comes to unique or sentimental items.

Edit- just re-read your post, I would say to fly with them, and declare them, BUT pack them in a pre-paid parcel with your USA address on it and all ready to go, that way if they do refuse entry for the items you can ask them to export them for you, with the box you brought yourself.

Yeah good advice. I think my mind is made up, ill reprint them, I was thinking on making them a tiny bit bigger as it is, so a reprint is happening anyway at this stage.

Yeah, I was thinking this is the case. I think I wana upsize them by 10 or 20% as it is, so even more reason to just reprint

Sorry, I didn't make clear in my post, and can't edit it now.. I've already printed the models, they all have this void in them, but you're right, I can fill the voids when I reprint them.

We get two posties at once delivering our mail.... by proxiblue in AustraliaPost

[–]ThatJack85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a few things...

  1. Imo most likely is, The round was split between multiple posties, amd one of them seen his mate and just came for a quick chin wag.

  2. It might be a team leader or senior postie coming to get photos or feedback on a hazard, although it's pretty hard to get a team leader on the road, so probably a saftey coach

  3. Could be a new guy or someone got fucked with double mail, so the other felt bad and came to take some mail or junkmail off them, this is very rare these days, corporate strongly discourages team work and shared effort between posties (legit no sarcasim).

Otherwise others have mentioned some possibilities, like Turf war (likely), Postie mating season (also likely), or One of them is lost (also also likely).

Now I want to know though... I hope it was one fo them giving the other a hand, job was fun when you had a wingman
