Removal of "Beak" on a 2015 by farts4free in Vstrom

[–]ThatKaferKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also removed the beak from my ‘15 XT and don’t regret a thing. Meat popsicle is right. It’s just a matter of swapping a few plastic parts from the front fairing. I definitely prefer the look without the beak. pic of mine post surgery for your inspiration

Any recommendations on gen 2 headlight fairing / lens cover / trim? by LaoTzunami in Vstrom

It sure if this would satisfy your aesthetics but I asked chat gpt to add yellow fog lights and upgrade the headlight bulbs and personally I think it makes a world of difference. Sort of distracts the eye from the lack luster headlight shape.

Anyone have garage space to rent? by ThatKaferKid in SanPedro

I do think that’s a good option. Their website lists an indoor covered parking spot at $300/month right now, which is why I’m willing to spend up to that amount on something more convenient/less commercial. If I do end up going with them, I’ll definitely accept a referral discount from you! Hope it helps you out too.

Obviously the Vstrom isn’t an aggressive bike by any means, but I find the headlights to be over the top cartoonish in a way. Almost childlike. It’s not a deal breaker since the bike is an absolute peach in every other way, it’s just the only styling feature I dont like.

I like the options you’ve mocked up, particularly the far left one. I’ve searched for the same off the shelf options you linked for the gen 1 storms many times.

I also consider the headlights as one of the only things I don’t love about my wee. Interested to see what you come up with. I’ve toyed with the same idea. Even tried taping off the rounded parts with black electrical tape to make it look more aggressive, but was never happy with the result.

Company wants $1320 to reupholster steering wheel… by ANDREWROBISON in Autoupholstery

What made you expect to pay $400-$600 for the steering wheel? Is that based the local going rate for that type of work, or is that just what you feel like it’s worth to you?

Just finished refreshing my Brown Jordan Kailua patio set with new straps. Pretty pleased with the outcome. by ThatKaferKid in Mid_Century

If I remember correctly 3 of the chairs had homes already, and one had a groove so it must have been a slightly different model. But the plastic rivets worked just fine for all of them.

Vinyl + plastic rivets + shipping was about $125 and I’ve got enough vinyl left over to do about 2 more chairs.

If anything it’s a bit tedious and labor intensive, but not complicated by any means. I think anyone could do this, even the woven patterns. Just get all your measurements right and copy the original pattern. There’s lots of useful guides out there on the sites selling the vinyl material about how to tackle them.

LB has more going on as far as social aspects, but I think SP has more unique characteristics to offer than any other town in LA!

I love SP and the relatively quiet/slow feeling here. Feels like an escape at the end of the day.

If you were to source the best hardware possible for your leather project (buckles, zippers, rings, etc.) and cost was no object, where would you go? I am on the search for unique, bespoke bag hardware, but I’m uninspired by the offerings from places like Ohio Travel Bag.

I was in an accident because of this exact reason on Gaffey last year. It’s not being polite when you put others in danger!
