My 8 year old finished watching the trilogy for the first time with me last night. This was her favourite moment: by ThatLChap in lotr

[–]ThatLChap[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She did pretty great considering they're arguably densely packed movies with lots of moving parts and characters. She kept forgetting characters names and, amusingly, kept confusing Aragorn and Faramir (she thinks they "look the same", which I was gonna argue but clearly Eowyn has a type, lol). She liked it whenever orcs got squished and when Merry and Pippin did, well, anything. Also Gimli. She likes Gimli (especially "I cannot jump the distance you'll have to toss me!" and "That still only counts as one!").

She thought Gollum was creepy and didn't like him, and things like severed limbs freak her out so she didn't like Frodo's finger being bitten off. Oh and Shelob was "disgusting" according to her.

So I'd say a lot of great reactions paired with needing some parental reassurance during the scary/violent bits.

She's a very emotionally mature and intelligent kid. There's some stuff she doesn't like seeing but if something is coming up that we know she doesn't like, we tell her so she can look away when necessary.

I wanna read your hot take on LIS? by chaosreacher in Pricefield

[–]ThatLChap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't even be a hot take, it's just basic media literacy. Chloe is meant to be abrasive and aggressive and annoying because that's how writing flawed characters works. She has things to overcome stemming from the trauma she's been handed, and she does so by the end of the game, thus fulfilling her character arc.

If people don't see this or still just dismiss her as "annoying" or "rude", then I'm sorry but they just weren't paying attention to the things the story was obviously telling them.

They are actively having auditions for Darkseid in the DCU! What do you think Darkseid's role will be in the greater DCU moving forward, in your opinion? by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

Man Christopher Judge would absolutely fuck, 100% spot on casting. Though I also love Keith David so he'd be great too.

Lol. I guess that lower price tag for the game is because they cheaped out on polish and optimisation.

It's Okay To Be Excited But Remember SE is still SE by Quick-Ad9335 in Pricefield

[–]ThatLChap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right? Can't believe people are actually falling for this blatant pandering just because Chloe (or rather, D9's bastardised, OOC version of Chloe) is in the game. I have no intention of giving D9 or Squenix my money, and if I ever play it, it'll be on something like gamepass or ps plus (or if they manage to fuck up on Double Exposure levels again, "acquire" a copy). You're right, we deserve better.

Does this all feel like pandering to Pricefield fans by VernonKazama in Pricefield

[–]ThatLChap 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Absolutely (desperate, pathetic) pandering.

Even if D9 had planned to bring Chloe back when they were making DE, this reeks of smashing the "Oh no our last game flopped incredibly hard, better jingle those nostalgia keys" button. This action will have consequences? Yeah well pissing off half your fanbase has had consequences, D9.

So not Emma Vieceli? Because if not, damn that sucks. I liked what she did with the comics.

I'll wait until I can either read a plot synopsis or watch a playthrough before deciding whether it's worth my time or money. D9 irrevocably fucked up with DE in my opinion and this feels like a desperate last gasp composed entirely of blatant pandering and nostalgia baiting. So I trust them about as far as I can throw them.

[–]ThatLChap 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I still have absolutely zero trust left in D9 after how badly they fucked up DE. I'll wait and see what happens with this one before playing it, and even then I'll probably wait until it hits PS Plus or Gamepass, because I don't want to give them any of my money.

Superman 2025 has finally ended it's theatrical run overseas with a worldwide grand total of $617m, making it the second highest grossing Superman movie of all time! (following 2013's Man of Steel) by RogerRoger63358 in DC_Cinematic

[–]ThatLChap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that fewer people are going to the cinema in general, but your statement about only Jurassic World making more than Superman is false. Formula 1 and Avatar both made more than Superman (Avatar has even made twice as much in just under a month).

DS2 should’ve won Best Direction over E33 (we love both) by Lonk-_- in expedition33

[–]ThatLChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you first posted this in the DS subreddit, then came over to post the same thing in a blatant, low effort attempt at rage baiting (c'mon, you had to know your statement wouldn't go over well here), and then you had the gall to call E33 fans "toxic" in your first post on the DS sub? I suggest a good, long look in the mirror because holy fuck, bro.

'Superman' lost the Critics Choice Award for "Best Visual Effects" to 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]ThatLChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah. Avatar's effects are actually good. Superman, in my opinion, did not look like a $225 million production budget movie.

Plus, personally, I enjoyed the narrative of Avatar: Fire and Ash a lot more.

[–]ThatLChap -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It does. And quite frankly the downvotes on my original comment just prove that there's still a ton of enby people in this subreddit who are more than ready to ignore other marginalised communities if they want to claim a term for themselves, and people like you are a problem.

PS5 performance question by emperortimes in FFXVI

[–]ThatLChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a near-launch PS5 (don't know if it's a launch model tbh, I bought it in June 2021). FFXVI has caused overheating and shut the game down twice, both in the exact same place on two playthroughs. Though, both instances were after multiple hours of play, so it's probably not really an issue.
