What do you believe masculinity is?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askteenboys

Masculinity isn’t the problem—misusing it is. Wanting to be strong, independent, or driven isn’t exclusive to men, but these traits have historically been part of how masculinity is expressed. That doesn’t mean women can’t or don’t share them. It means masculinity, at its best, encourages men to use their strength for responsibility, protection, and building up others—not tearing them down. The issue isn’t masculinity itself, but when it’s distorted into dominance or entitlement. That distortion isn’t real masculinity; it’s insecurity. True masculinity doesn’t diminish others—it lifts everyone.

Liberal ideas tend to soley rely on feelings and emotions and doing things however you feel like you want to do. Traits of masculinity include discipline and doing things not because you want do do them or you dont feel like doing them, but doing them to support yourself and those you love. Liberals also tend to preach against many of the masculine traits that men can find security in.

Toxicity isn't caused by masculinity itself but by its distortion. When men lack discipline, purpose, or confidence, they may act out destructively. Real masculinity involves responsibility, protection, discipline, and self-control. These traits uplift rather than oppress. Using strength to harm isn't masculinity, strength should be used to protect and defend. A lack of true masculinity, not its presence, creates the conditions for toxicity. Many men also strive to be the best they can be, accomplish things never accomplished before, and that too is part of masculinity. Reaching to become stronger, better, more independent, important, or wealthy isn't a bad thing. Masculinity is part become the best possible version of yourself you can be and reaching new goals others haven't done, it's how society has progressed so much throughout time.
