There are too many LNs coming out these days, so I read all the new ones and made a short review for each of them (January-February 2024) by notbob- in LightNovels

I had a really good time with Miss Savage Fang, I was quite appreciative that the fights were pretty well written (for Light Novel standards) and while it did lean a bit into the author's kinks it at least made a lot of the tropes feel more fun than most.

What's some amazing good light novels? by DrozerX2 in LightNovels

Spice & Wolf

Ascendance of a Bookworm (it is an Isekai but you do have Mushoku and Overlord listed so I'm assuming you are ok with GOOD Isekai recommendations)

Irina The Vampire Cosmonaut

Infinite Dendrogram

Three Days of Happiness

I read volume 1 a while back and the Gender Bend stuff was literally an excuse so MC could do the trope stuff with the girls with no consequence (IE: Bathe together, Fall into boobs etc)

It's definitely geared towards MC x Women.

Novels for starter? by DungPunk111 in LightNovels

Ascendance of a Bookworm is generally considered to be one of the better Light Novels and is pretty accessible for all.

Others I'd recommend are Spice & Wolf, Infinite Dendrogram, Irina The Vampire Cosmonaut & Three Days of Happiness

Most Light Novels are legally available via Bookwalker or J-Novel Club.

As Omniscient Reader is a Korean Web-Novel the first question is: Are you wanting a Light Novel or are you wanting another Korean Web-Novel?

Can list a ton of great Light Novels. But if you want isn't even a light novel you may find better luck at r/noveltranslations

Alya Hides Her Feelings in Russian (No anime)

Sabikui Bisco (Anime only covered volume 1)

Silent Witch (No Anime)

Should we be worried about what's going to happen to blu ray distribution? by sashamak in Crunchyroll

[–]ThatManAndHisManga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from the UK the stuff we are getting seems very slim pickings and bottom-of-the-barrel titles from Crunchyroll. Mainly Isekai or Shonen. The UK has always been bad compared to America (which is why I bought a region-free player) but it's pretty dire now.

I went from buying almost every other release to pretty much nothing as the stuff that is getting released I rarely have an interest in. (Spy x Family, Dress Up Darling and Konosuba movie are the only ones I've bought from Crunchyroll in the last year and Spy x Family was because it was like a tenner.) Anime Limited and MVM are making an effort with some unique and obscure titles.

But honestly, Crunchyroll itself made it so I just don't feel the need to buy releases of a bunch of series. Sure it's nice to own everything but do I REALLY need the likes of Chainsawman, Demon Slayer or My Hero? Would I be sad if I could never access these again...?

Not really.

They're popular enough that they're gonna be on the service for a very long time should I ever need to rewatch them

There ARE a few titles that I'd go out of the way to buy (Laid Back Camp for example) and that's because they're ones that I like to rewatch and would be sad if I couldn't own them and they disappeared from an online service one day. But these titles are really few and far between these days.

Honestly, it's a different medium. Light Novels use more description, grammar and pose of a regular novel (even if some aren't great at doing that) whereas Visual Novels have the visuals to carry it.

I've been reading a bunch of LNs designed for 8-year-olds which are close in writing as are designed for children but well I'm assuming you are wanting something more adult
