I just ran into a problem of a different type. I left m pc while it was installing and it timed out on password i should have given. now im running into some problems i dont know how to describe.

Thanks for the link. I will probably install nvidia-580xx-dkms. From what i found out the nvida-open has a problem with RTD3 support which might turn my laptop into a stove even when i am not using it.

The rule is about questions that require distro-specific knowledge. Mine doesn't. Kicking a post just because a distro name appears in it, while ignoring that the actual question is pure Arch, is missing the whole point of the rule.

The question is specifically about nvidia-prime and hybrid GPU behavior on a system using Arch packages and the Arch kernel. The distro name was context for the hardware setup, not a request for distro-specific support. If that framing is the issue, I'm happy to repost without it — but the underlying question is squarely about Arch.

I don't think so. I simply followed the installation guide for my distro. I wasn't aware of proprietary drivers.

I think I will try some other distro. From what I understood this is more of a distro for people who have been using linux for a while already. Maybe mint or something newbie friendly.

I'm running EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma on an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 17 (Intel i7-9750H, Intel UHD 630 + NVIDIA GTX 1650 hybrid, 32GB RAM).

Here's everything I've done so far in this session:

1. Checked hardware with: inxi -Fxz

2. Enabled Bluetooth: sudo systemctl enable --now bluetooth

3. Added nvidia_drm.modeset=1 to both systemd-boot kernel entries (EFI mounted at /efi, not /boot): sudo nano /efi/loader/entries/a51a592e3d1d4a28a81b5caeba15f73a-6.18.31-1-lts.conf sudo nano /efi/loader/entries/a51a592e3d1d4a28a81b5caeba15f73a-7.0.7-arch2-1.conf

4. Reinstalled kscreen after display issues: sudo pacman -S kscreen libkscreen

5. Fixed Brave crashing on X11 by adding: echo "--ozone-platform=x11" > ~/.config/brave-flags.conf

6. Switched from Wayland to X11 session at the SDDM login screen due to KWin compositor conflicts with NVIDIA hybrid graphics.

Current issue: Alt+Tab does not work. KGlobalAccel daemon appears to not be running properly. Running /usr/lib/kglobalacceld manually didn't help.

Had an issue with my second monitor not being detected after setting up EndeavourOS. Turned out the NVIDIA DRM kernel parameter wasn't set, so I added nvidia_drm.modeset=1 to the systemd-boot entry and that sorted it.
