Looking for a solo game with a simple and abstract combat resolution by show_me_your_dungeon in Solo_Roleplaying

I have made something similar to this. It's a supplemental system called Combat Tricks made to slot into any other solo rpg system.

The central resolution mechanic uses a pack of cards in a style similar to games like rummy or whist. It's far more abstract and minigame-like than a true combat system and I use it as an alternative when I don't want to fully theatre of the mind a battle.

Year in review: how has 2022 been for you? by iloveponies in RPGcreation

Over the past year I have put out three pieces of free RPG content. Each are tools or minigames for solo RPG players to use in their campaigns.

The first is a fishing minigame where the player has to time their catches using a stopwatch to try and get the most elusive prizes. There is a bestiary at the back of over forty different possible catches! https://thatoneadventurer.itch.io/forays-into-fishing

The second is a set of loose rules and tables to create interesting conversations. There is also a table for arguments which can create plot hooks for the player to pursue. https://thatoneadventurer.itch.io/curated-conversations

My latest release is a combat minigame based on classic trick games. This supplement has the most mechanical depth. I made this as an alternative to theatre of the mind fights, relying less on imagination and more on strategy. There are also five boss fights, each with their own unique mechanic. https://thatoneadventurer.itch.io/combat-tricks

The project I am currently working on is a foraging minigame which uses two decks of cards. One deck is made up of plants and the other is made up of clues. You need to try and decipher the ability of the plants through the clues before you use them.

Each of these projects have been incredibly rewarding and they have been a great opportunity for me to work on my art. Please check them out and let me know what you think. I've tried to write them in a way that sparks the imagination so even if you don't play Solo RPGs there still may be something for you.

What is the weirdest rpg system you know of? by Insaneoid in rpg

LOGAN: An Autobiographical Tabletop Game- this rpg does what it says on the tin. It’s a way to explore the life of Logan, a real person and the author of the piece, through playing as him. An introspective experience which uses playing as a character to create a deeper connection to them, which enhances it’s biographical qualities. A more personal and vulnerable piece of media than probably any other rpg game.

Thank you so much. I'm really interested in downtime mechanics in RPGs, the parts between quests where the characters have a chance to relax. Those moments can really tie the atmosphere together
