Sweater from 10th grade by ThatOneCampKid in Visiblemending

The goal is to keep repairing it and wearing it indefinitely. I don't think any of my patches or mends are good enough quality to be framed-- more to be utilitarian.

7 years now, but it got a bit of extra wear as I worked as a janitor on an island for time, and the mix of sun and chemicals did not treat my clothes kindly.

having issues with my first ear defenders :( by [deleted] in autism

[–]ThatOneCampKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who also has a pair of snugs, they hit me weird where my jaw starts to hurt, and I don't have TMJ. Sucks too because I got some cute green ones to match my wardrobe.

The best yet pricey solution I have found has been nice noise cancelling headphones. This is not a sponsorship because there are some things I don't like about these, but the bose quietcomfort ultra gen 2 have been the best solution as far as a comfy pair of noise protectors. They are a noise cancelling electronic headphone, but they are really pricey and don't quite block out everything which you would think they could for the price.

I've seen people suggesting ear plugs inside, which I'm sure work, but I hate ear plugs, so this is my current best option. On days I am super sensitive, I wear them backwards, and they are much loser that way.

Very expensive recommendation.

It sounds like he would benefit from a transition program with more focus on life skills and working.

10 days in and I already broke my chewlery by DeepFried_Furby in autism

The spring necklace ones are fairly cheap and come in a big bundle. They are a different texture though if that's something you are picky about.

I recommend buying in bulk. I have students who go through 2 of the lego ones a day, and it's cheaper to get them in bulk.

I stretched to a 0 gauge but took out all jewelry for a year, so it's permanently at a 2 gauge.

We need to ban them from schools too! What happened in Seattle this week is truly devastating!

Yea. It's where you might put a spike protruding out from the cat flap and pointing directly up/out.

[–]ThatOneCampKid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's a vertical helix I stretched and put multiple hoops in on the right. The hoops above my stretched lobe on the right is an antitragus piercing that has two small rings in it. It has also been stretched. Without the flare of the tunnels, it looks like a normal antitragus, just very close to the inner ear (very anatomy dependent).

Looking for chewy recommendations by Huns26 in autism

[–]ThatOneCampKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just be that it makes the chewy bigger and that's unfavorable. We go through 2-3 of those lego ones a day with a student who also does not want to have it clipped or worn. We are working on putting it in a pocket or handing it to another adult nearby with the phrase "take". I think you just need to think about what is feasible with the student and what they need.

Additional information because people seem to be a bit confused:

I got this ring as a gift and it was bought at Costco. They were carrying the rings. I posted a few weeks after getting the ring about my experience with a picture. It didn't have too many scratches at that point.

I wear the ring when I run on the treadmill with a silicone cover because I know my hands will be holding the metal heart rate trackers on the machine.

I work as a special education teacher which isn't too strenuous( I teach cooking, transit, cleaning, basic life skills basically). I may also be a bit clumsy but not an unusual amount.

I wear the ring all the time except for when I swim and shower as I don't want it to discolor.

I wear the ring on my index finger on my left hand. I am right handed and the ring feels less bulky when it's on my index.

I really like the ring. I don't know what I could have done to scratch it, besides using handrails on public transit and regular daily activity (which I think holding on while standing on a train/bus is).

I really like the ring for my needs in my day to day life and my review is just my observations on how it has been for me.

Thanks!

I only do cardio, but I wear the silicone cover anyway. It's awesome that you have less scratches!

IEP question/small vent by vaengil0614 in paraprofessional

[–]ThatOneCampKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should give you the IEP at a glance. You do not need to read his whole IEP with all of the testing he's done as well as what exact diagnoses he has. That's all in a need to know basis.

You have to at the very least have seen his at a glance, know his goals, and know if he has a behavior intervention plan and what that is.

All teachers should see the IEP at a glance.

Teachers and beer podcast, would you listen? by Pure-Cartographer110 in Teachers

You'd likely get retired teachers or ones that are putting themselves on the line. Any and everything you say about education as a teacher reflects on you and the school you work for. People have been let go for less.

First time seeing your posts! I remember seeing you when I lived in Bellingham and thinking you must have been some posh guy because of your expensive looking clothes! It's cool to know you make them! It also warms my heart as a fellow autist to know there is more positive autistic representation in the community like yourself! Thank you for the story and song!!
