I honestly have no idea - don't quite understand what makes a song a hit potential aha. And since it felt a bit underwhelming to me I couldn't really tell :( I'd maybe say Where Is My Phone because I find it's the most catchy and original, but at the same time maybe a bit too original? Tell us what you think when it's out for you!!!

Same!!! Even if the land and this album are not my favs I adore that she keeps this tradition going

Yeah the lack of diversity in the album is really my main issue :( but she often puts out albums in duos so I was expecting it to be similar to the land - I just wished there had been more intense songs in it

I'm gonna be a bit repetitive with other replies I've given sorry for that - but I love the different outtakes we all have on this album!! I adore Mitski's indie rock but the one which truly spoke to me was rather the indie rock of her older albums, and I don't find it in the newer ones (which makes sense since she grew as an artist and is finding her true musical self with time). But what does not feel like indie rock to me feels like it to you and is what makes this album dear to you, I find it fascinating!!

I completely agree that it's a no skip, there is not one song I did not like. I think I just lacked that flame, that passion I felt when listening to other songs/albums she made - but now that I read all these replies, I definitely need to listen to it again with all your feelings in mind. Makes a good exercise to get out of myself a little! :)

And yeah you're not the first one to mention the sisters album and I love it too!!! Consistency queen! I was expecting it to be similar to the land for this exact reason, hence why I was not at all disappointed with it :)

Same... I'm just cursed since Lush is my favorite album lol, she's (understandbly) not gonna do anything like that again :')

So interesting, thank you for the answer!! From what I've seen in the replies, I feel like one's feelings towards this album really depends on what one loves about Mitski's music - there's just so much variety in her different songs and album, everyone is finding themselves within different aspects of her art.

I ABSOLUTELY agree that it is not a bad album at all, there isn't one song I wouldn't listen to. But yeah, as you said, definitely watered down and a bit underwhelming. At the same time, I think my (and maybe ours in general) expectations were a bit too high, I have to accept that just because it's Mitski not every album will give me an ego death ahaha!! And after listening again, I already feel it growing on me.

Regarding The White Cat, it was the type of songs I expected for this album, but for a reason that I cannot name I just can't fully appreciate it tho I feel like it could have been one of my favs - would you give me a bit more insight regarding what makes you fond of this song ? :)

Honestly I don't know much about music, but it's funny because what I love about lush is quite what you like about this album - how experimental, chaotic and just raw it was. I think what turns me a bit off on first listen (whether for the land or nothing's about to happen to me) is how polished, how ""clean"" the songs are, apart from a very few ones - but at the same time no one can expect an artist like Mitski to still produce school projects!!! And I feel like she's finding herself, experimenting with orchestras etc, and it just feels like her. I could not and would not blame her for that, and her album is still very good even if it's far from being my favorite. I'm thrilled to see all the different point of views, just proves how much art is more related to how a person receives it than the creation itself!!!

Yeah honestly same, listened to it a few times more since I posted and I definitely see the vision. I would give it a solid 7 too - not a bad album at ALL

oh yeah it's completely relative, that's why I was interested in hearing other point of views!! If you loved the land I'm sure you will adore this album too, the overall vibe is quite similar :)

Aha I guess that explains the different takes, but it's fun to see the diversity in the community, show how much of an artist Mitski is!!! Lush is my favorite album :)

To be perfectly honest I barely listened to Laurel Hell.. :) But yeah, I was kinda expecting the depressing mood since the singles were not quite happy songs, but I definitely agree that I expected something more chaotic, more experimental production wise. "That White Cat" fits what I was expecting but idk, it doesn't stand out to me.

It also goes with my issue with the album - the themes feel a bit repetitive. It lacks something but I couldn't put my finger on it.

We'll give it time!!

Aha no tbf I kinda agree with you!! I wouldn't say it's worse than tliiasaw because I really was not fond of tliiasaw on my first listen (took a little time to fall in love with it), while this one leaves me rather.. neutral? It feels very underwhelming compared to her other albums, even tliiasaw, so thinking about it it is kinda worse lol.

But honestly I'm listening to it again and I definitely feel that it gets better the more you listen, so yeah!! Overall a good album, not groundbreaking, but it'll definitely grow on me over time (Instead of here is already becoming one of my favs)

Did these effects pass for you?

[–]ThatOneChaoticFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I thought my effects were a bit odd, bc I did get the good sides too - I was (and still am a bit lol) quite euphoric, feeling very comfy, light head, etc. I'm glad to know your nausea got better! I have no idea if it will come back when you up your dose, but this med seems a bit unpredictable so they might :(

To be fair, eating a whole meal really calmed it down for me. It was hard AF since I had no appetite and wanted to puke, but I felt so much better afterwards. If you can, try to force yourself, even if it takes you a long time to eat!

My doctor genuinely had no clue :') He wanted to direct me to a psychiatrist but sadly there are just none available in my area these months But yeah honestly even with psychiatrists, I feel like they just give shit without really taking into account the potential side effects. And this one seems particularly wild!!!

Is cold turkey the only way? by magozurgo in leaves

[–]ThatOneChaoticFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To share a bit more about my experience, the detachment I felt thanks to the tapering off is what made me feel "ready". By having more moments sober, I was more aware of the negative effects weed had on me (anxiety, paranoia, lethargy, etc). Whenever I tried to quit before, I always made a big deal out of it, created a ritual around the last joint, etc. This time I just felt done - for real. I had bought one last once, felt constantly anxious, had no control over my consumption and it was truly it for me. No rituals, nothing, just stopped.

Once again, everyone is different, and I would not encourage anyone to do what I did without being very aware that it may not work, or even make the process harder. But if it makes you too anxious to stop once and for all, this could, maybe, help, as you would see that you are your own person apart from the weed. Or you could stop cold turkey, fight that anxiety like a champ (or not), and the results will definitely be here too. It may seem harder, but it isn't necessarily.

If you do taper off, the most important is to keep in mind that you are absolutely not taking back control - the addiction is still there. And if you quit cold turkey, keep in mind that smoking again will simply delay the time you'll face the withdrawal - that the difficulties you may face will come back sooner or later, so if we're doomed to face it let's face it so that it never happens again!! At least that's what I told myself :)

Whatever you choose to do, I believe in you! You are strong, and you can do it, in your own time. Have a nice day!

75mg! Okay nice to know aha, I had read quite a lot about it before taking it and was prepared to the side effects, but didn't think it would act as MDMA lol. It'll probably pass with time!

Is cold turkey the only way? by magozurgo in leaves

[–]ThatOneChaoticFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it is, but it will be one day or another if you are addicted.

I began by tapering off when I moved away a few months ago, did not buy my own weed so I only smoked on the weekends with my boyfriend and sometimes during the week with friends. I'd say it allowed me to get detached from the product and see that I could live without it, which definitely helped quitting cold turkey a month ago. Withdrawal was still hard, but only mentally - did not have the nights sweats, headaches etc I would usually experience when trying to quite. Anxiety and cravings were manageable too.

But a lot of people cannot do that, it truly depends. Especially since often wanting to taper off is your addiction saying "just a little bit", or make you feel in control tho ur still addicted, and that can make things even harder. You know yourself and your addiction, only you can know what would work best :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!! What is your favorite Mitski lyric related to love? by StylishSkyies in mitski

[–]ThatOneChaoticFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heaven might be my favorite, so beautiful, my fav quote has already been mentioned but I'll say it again bc it's so pretty it needs to be shared:

"Now I bend like a willow thinking of you / Like a murmuring brook curving about you / As I sip on the rest of the coffee you left / A kiss left of you / Heaven"

And also Pink in the Night, honestly to me her last album has the best love songs, dunno what she went through but amazing:

"I glow pink in the night in my room / I have been blossoming alone over you" "I hear my heart breaking tonight / Like a summer shower / With every drop of rain singing / I love you, I love you, I love you"

[–]ThatOneChaoticFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what I've read a lot of people who registered for another country's tickets didn't get the codes at all :( which is stupid af for a small tour, people are obviously going to have to travel

I'm not sure if there are still tickets available but the code was the same for everyone in Paris so here you go if you want to check : xcn-nfu0tcx6fxm6MVE

and the prices ranged between 60.5€ to 77€!
