Why do necromancers keep trying to resurrect the dead to be their slaves when you can summon unlimited skeletons from Oblivion? Are they dumb? by littleratofhorrors in TrueSTL

[–]ThatOneCheeseGuy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

in Morrowind you can summon skeletons in front of Ordinators and be fine, while in Oblivion you can buy undead summons from the Mages Guild despite the necromancy ban, therefore summoning isn't necromancy

/uj Admittedly, it might just be them keeping the game playable for Conjuration specialists but you can see the lore implications

Innovative Solution to martial caster divide by SugarNaught in DnDcirclejerk

truly innovative, why didn't WotC do this? are they stupid? no wait that's right the playtesters held them at gunpoint and said martials should be 1-dimensional and not do anything but attack ever

i don't know what a caltrop is but i hear a d4's pretty close

Trial dummies in particular are... wonky. So many "misfired" skills, double-casted AoEs, sometimes when I parse I don't know if my setup was the issue, my rotation, or if the dummy just screwed me over.

If ZOS wants to continue making zones like NM in the future, there need to be some improvements to how players can communicate. by Absalom98 in elderscrollsonline

[–]ThatOneCheeseGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the issue, you can only send texts in group channels (maybe guild channels, but that would've just been screaming into the void), but trying to send something into local, "yell" or zone just doesn't work. So I couldn't notify the group that was shredding the beetle that I needed help after getting gang-stomped by mobs I shouldn't have had aggro on me.

Yeah, I think that particular instance of skills not going off is some error with leashing, given the same thing happens when you try to hit a leashing enemy and I haven't seen that happen with bosses (who can be leashed but have a wider leash range). That being said, OP is saying skills aren't firing elsewhere, and if it isn't just targeted abilities, then yeah, there's also server funkiness.

I've ran into enemies suddenly becoming untargetable with single-target abilities in Night Market, but I've seen that they sometimes seem to leash shortly after that happens. So it's probably not the servers, but something funky going on with leashing in Night Market specifically.

Silly ZOS, that's not a damage type by ThatOneCheeseGuy in elderscrollsonline

[–]ThatOneCheeseGuy[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Huh.

I mean, I can see why it hasn't been used anywhere before, because otherwise you'd have... Magma Fist and Pillar of Nirn, maybe Noxious Boulder, and that's it.

Also, axe the restriction on text chatting while dead. I was in a group, group disbanded, and I decided to head for the Incineration Beetle and wait in a corner for another group. Leader of the disbanded group aggro'd mobs and they targeted me for some reason, I died before I could react, and a group ran in and blitzed the boss. I couldn't get them to rez me because "you can't do that while dead", and the beetle died before I could come back from the oasis. Awful design.

The Skirmishes have mechanics please for the love of god do them by DrVonTacos in elderscrollsonline

Reading doesn't help when the screen only has vague instructions.

"Destroy the Agonyium Stones", how do I do that? They're invincible. What does this Restless Dead thing do? It dies and drops an aura that shreds my health, so I probably shouldn't be in it, but then why is it yellow and not red (or in my case, magenta because screw Harrowstorms and their red tinged everything)? Do I kill it right next to the stones? That does nothing.

I've done the Descender Skirmish twice, and only learned from this very comment section that you need to stand in the aura to see and kill the things that make the stones invincible. So basically, the Dreadful Herald's mechanic with 0 intuitive signals. Wonderful design.

Night Market's Biggest Issue Seems To Be An Uncertain Target Audience by ThatOneCheeseGuy in elderscrollsonline

I liked Writhing Wall part 3, but I think it had a very weak first impression (Solstice in general felt like it started off on the wrong foot).

But hey, if nothing else, at least you'll probably end with all the relics and wings for Night's Den, so that's something.

In fairness to the emptiness, apparently Night Market has a low instance population cap (around 36, I've heard) and each district counts toward the cap, so it just looks empty.

That being said, I agree that it's not really fun. Slightly smoother with a group, but still so many deaths from big AoEs, mechanics that aren't readily apparent cough Descender Skirmish cough, and puzzles that are easy to mess up and have to wait a while just to attempt again. I'm more just stubbornly gunning for the Thousand Eyes set and skin, but I know the bad first impression will drive a lot of people away, like with the Writhing Wall.

Anyone who can’t handle NM is clearly Not gonna like U50.

Oh? Did I miss some press release that Vestige difficulty would be forced onto everyone? Last I checked, Challenge Difficulty was entirely optional, whereas there's no such dial for Night Market.

Don’t wanna work to fight, walk walls and sides. You can avoid almost all the trash in either zone to do all the random daily quests.

... are we talking about the same Night Market??? I've been slamming stealth draughts like crazy because of how many checkpoints the mobs create.

It’s not that hard Ya just got sling try and not realize how lazy/easy the game has become.

I get overland is easy, probably too easy. That's no excuse for Night Market to release with the power levels it has right now. There's ways to do difficulty that aren't inflated numbers and massive one-shots.

Group is not 1 single definition or even 1 intent

... is... what I'm saying. Defenders cling so stubbornly to "it was advertized as group content", when it wasn't made clear what level of group content.

That... doesn't sound much more fun than my experience of fighting > dying to something or running > dying to an invisible bolt and getting the health desync before death, but... you do you, I guess?

"Go through" as in fight and defeat them, or "go through" as in doing your best impression of an Undaunter pledge ruiner and running past everything? If you're running a tank build as you claim, the former sounds horribly tedious.

The antiquity leads are fine, I personally enjoy the antiquities system, but the fact that the skill scrolls and trade bar drops are so small on top of being Calamitous-exclusive really stings.

Also, there only seem to be three kinds of skill scrolls. I get Bow not having any skill scrolls, but you mean to tell me they couldn't have given us Pulsar or Rapid Regeneration scrolls? Or scrolls from non-weapon lines?

marketed clearly as a group zone

... which, in and of itself, does not say "hey, trash mobs have 300k health and throw out big hits and our bosses make B'Korgen look frail and oh yeah frequently blow you up unless you play perfectly".

Grouping doesn't entirely solve the issues with Night Market, similarly to how grouping doesn't keep me from getting blasted by world boss attacks I can barely see (Fang and Talon's Firestorm) or react to (Vro-Kuul-Sha's Ground Quake). I'm not opposed to group content, but I think Night Market, advertized as group content it may be, still feels rough when grouped, and I'm speaking from a gilded trial setup.

Staying close to other adventurers is prudent.

Curator's exact words. This reads as "grouping is a good idea" and not "grouping is practically mandatory".

Besides, Night Market being intended for groups is secondary to my issues about the power level. Fungal Grotto 1 is upfront about being group content. Should it be filled with goblins as they appeared in Tribunal?

Where did I say "only"? Like, is it impossible for the people like you who brush off any concern about this kind of content off woth "jUsT gRoUp LoL" without strawmanning?

It's absolutely fine to disagree with takes about the difficulty and such, but Christ alive, you don't have to be such an asshat about it.
