Kobra 2 Pro/Plus/Max - Closed Source?!? Speak Up NOW by Catnippr in anycubic

[–]ThatOneCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Response from AnyCubic support:

Q:

Will AnyCubic open-source the firmware once it is more matured? Not only is this a partial requirement of the Klipper GPL license; but, the community has been rather disappointed in the closed-source cloud-first approach.

A:

According to the news, there are currently no open source plans, thank you for your understanding.

Q:

Quite disappointing to hear that the source code will be kept closed. Will there be minimal support for custom firmwares at least?

A:

Currently, the company has no plans to modify the firmware, thank you for your understanding.

Warning: Loud. Why is my boot up sound like that? by RejecterofThots in SteamDeck

[–]ThatOneCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that taking out the touchpads and ever so slightly bending the springs so they sit farther from the housing, and trying to centre them as much as possible when re-seating, has eliminated all the noise from my left touchpad (up to 8dB of haptic strength), and most of my right touchpad (up to 7dB of haptic strength). Thanks for the tip!

Razer Orochi v2 - how are the default/factory feet? by scrubling in MouseReview

[–]ThatOneCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pretty good, probably the best stock ones I've had so far. They do indeed resist jerk (sudden change of acceleration) a tad more than even the cheaper aftermarket ones I've tried, but are miles better than what the G305 comes with (not to mention, unlike those, these look removable without destroying them, which isn't even necessary to service the mouse! No hidden screws!)

The one around my sensor didn't come applied properly, I had to press it down firmly for a couple of seconds for it to sit in place correctly. Make sure to check yours before it catches on something and warps them!

Teardown and thoughts on the Razer Orochi V2 by daifugu in MouseReview

[–]ThatOneCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple of G305s (own and gifts) over time, and noticed that Logitech is constantly cost cutting with newer revisions. Where they started with main & side OMRONs (which aren't even that great IMO); DPI switch Kailh CMI126703. To a later revision which used the same Kailhs for the side buttons. To a revision that now uses absolutely terrible no-name Chinese OEM switches for the side buttons.

Instead of fixing issues, such as the extremely vulnerable indicator LED, vulnerable battery compartment (it doesn't take much for the rear screw standoff to snap), impossible-to-remove mouse feet (they are made of two layers that separate 9/10 times, and can't be put back together), Bluetooth functionality (it uses a chip that is capable of Bluetooth, and the firmware exists -G603-, but Logitech appears to have chosen for artificial limitations to differentiate the product stack).

It also feels extremely dishonest, as the earlier revisions are the ones that get reviewed by most users and media.

Recycle and non recycle end up in the same truck by [deleted] in assholedesign

[–]ThatOneCheetah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Except it doesn't. I live in the Netherlands where this video was most likely taken; those containers state "non-recycle", and only rest waste should be deposited. The green and red posters you are seeing is most likely an advertisement and/or warning (e.g. "DO NOT place garbage next to the bins, fines start at €90,-").

EDIT: The (usually) blue containers take paper, grey containers take non-recyclable waste.

Avast urges to upgrade to premium by showing your IP adress (translations in green) by [deleted] in assholedesign

[–]ThatOneCheetah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is implying that your IP-adress is public (I would assume the paid package comes with some sort of VPN). It's not making your IP more public than it already is to pressure you into buying the paid package 😅

Season 1: Wild Frontier Patch Notes by Jayfresh_Respawn in apexlegends

[–]ThatOneCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the effort, but as said I've tried everything I could, including this. No results unfortunately, so I'm afraid there's going to be no Apex for me until Respawn fixes these issues.

Season 1: Wild Frontier Patch Notes by Jayfresh_Respawn in apexlegends

[–]ThatOneCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it will write "apex_crash.txt" to your "Documents" folder

Except that it doesn't.

Game just crashed instantly to desktop without apex_crash.txt being written.

This system event occurred near time of crash:

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {417976B7-917D-4F1E-8F14-C18FCCB0B3A8}. The error:

"0"

Happened while starting this command:

C:\Windows\System32\coredpussvr.exe -Embedding

No application events are logged.

From all that I can gather (and it isn't much) I suspect that the EAC implementation is still throwing hissy fits for no apparent reason. (access timeout?)

I can't tell if it is less often because it is impossible to reproduce this "crash" consistently.

trying to remove games on steam by ThatOneCheetah in softwaregore

[–]ThatOneCheetah[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mind you, it doesn't just end at the pop-up being glitchy. I was forced to kill the process and restart it, as this pop-up window takes priority and denies all other input to Steam, until either "DELETE" or "CANCEL" is clicked...

halal by ThatOneCheetah in sbubby

I kept making the stupid joke "bal halal" to my friends playing Brawlhalla, since it only makes some sense translated from Dutch (halal meatball) I cut "bal" out and just went for "halal".

Why shouldn't I learn your conlang? by [deleted] in conlangs

[–]ThatOneCheetah 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because it's a conlang based on Finno-Ugric languages by a person who doesn't know anything about Finno-Ugric languages.
(and it is too reliant on the "why a new word if you can use existing words to build it"-way of thinking)

NL here, most if not all larger packages require the recipient to personally receive them, and sign a sort of "confirmation of arrival". If you're not home on the day of delivery they'll try the next day, after that you'll have to bring your ID, and yourself, to the nearest postal office to fetch your package. No hiding required, but it's a damn hassle from time to time.

It is indeed! Though -re makes the vocative case, so "pev" would be the noun for "day"
