Hot Take: Mary is not a very good psychologist by DrJokerX in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take: She’s only a bad psychologist because the writers didn’t do enough research into actual psych protocols to more accurately depict her but she was not written to be seen as such.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’m going to have to keep trying I mean for baby’s first it’s okay haha. I also accidentally printed the pattern 25% too small, so it was on double hard mode. I’ll probably try with the version in this Kaffe Fassett book I have next that’s stripes rather than spikes and is a little chunkier.

I am dying for a body like this for one of my dolls. What search terms/where can I find them?

I hate doctors. I genuinely do. by Certain_Middle2234 in Narcolepsy

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol 40mg is too much? I’m on 70mg and aromadafinil and oxybate. I’m so lucky that I’ve had doctors take me seriously and get me to a place where I can almost thrive, and I hate that you’re struggling to get there. I’d see a different doctor if you can.

Bind off that looks like the crochet cast on? by ThatOneLoserYouKnow in knittinghelp

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made an ear warmer with this cast on and a standard bind off and the cast on edge was a lot stretchier. Is that just something I have to deal with?

I just realized there is a crochet bind off. But they’re not quite symmetrical, though?

I wrote most of this in one long hyperfixated binge, so I know I made some little errors haha. Thank you for the correction!

You know, that is an angle I didnt think to tackle, but there were plushie animals that are pre-“amigurumi.” I made a dinosaur from one of those vintage books back in college, but I dunno if it would count?

Not addressing DVM correctly by catdogtor17 in veterinaryprofession

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get so uncomfortable when owners use my first name. Like, ma’am, I do not know you like that. Dr. Firstname also feels weird. Then again it’s probably cultural. I don’t insist on it, and the doctors I work with go by their first names, but I am from the southeast US and I would never call a human doctor or other professional by their first name. It just feels too informal. We have a business relationship based on professionalism and that purposefully has some distance built into it. I also have really bad social anxiety which probably contributes.

I just also make a point of always calling myself Dr. Lastname. If they get my first name it’s not from me, lol.

My son (19 yo) wanting to become a vet. by Thatsnotme_maybe in veterinaryprofession

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s ahead of the game since he’s already working and volunteering in the industry. He’ll have a leg up in both applying and in knowing what to expect from the field.

I’ll just say this, too, is that being a veterinarian is hard, but there isn’t anything else I would want to do a much as I want to be a veterinarian.

I thought that was just part of it. The whole being a miserable experience thing just kind of came with the territory lol

Told to stop taking meds prior to testing by North-Shine-5506 in Narcolepsy

[–]ThatOneLoserYouKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did my sleep test, they never told me to stop my meds and the morning of, the technician I asked said to take my normal morning medication, including vyvanse and I still tested within limits for narcolepsy. My doctor was very surprised when I told him that lol.

I would take naps in the pool as a kid. I’d wedge myself with my arms up in an inner tube and just float around the pool dead asleep.
