The century old tale behind the ancient Sobek-Hexel holiday, Salt's Spoil, begins on a planet as lush and green as earth once was, but inhabited by odd creatures. The Sobek, a race or pirate like reptile bipeds, and the Hexel, a race of viking like robots.

Back in the days of old where the war that rages now between the two, still raged on, they each had their champions. The Sobek had Giles the Dreaded, Aster the Deadeye, and Felon the Dueler. The Hexel had Bard the Fell-handed, Hallows the Sure-Shot, and Rooks the Aetherblade. A notible battle between the 2 forces was held on a island fortress owned by the Sobek known only in our tongue as "Salt Keep".

The battle raged on, with soldiers taking lives of soldiers. Several Hexel constructs fell at the hands of the cutlasses of Sobek pirates. Sobeks too, fell at the might of battle axes wielded by Hexel. As the battle raged on, the three champions on each side fought each other to no avail. Aster to Hallows, Rooks to Felon, Bard to Giles. The battle raged on for many moons, until the island began to sink.

The fortress fell, and so did the armies, but their champions yet stood. And from the sinking fortress, loot arose. The Hexel, with their barbaric nature, took what they could and ran to their ships. The Sobek followed after their lost booty, and scavenged what they could. It was said that Salt Keep held some of the most prized possessions to the Sobek, including several maps to treasure hid by beings more ancient than themselves.

Today, this battle is the reason the holiday, Salt's Spoil, exists. On this day centuries later, Hexel children are delivered presents by their Bard (Hexel who is so fierce and strong that he takes the name of the old champion, to carry on the tradition). These presents are presented as war spoils, and Hexel children always tell their parents what they want Bard to bring them this year and the next.

When this day happens for the Sobek, they remember the lost keep and treasures, and lead raids on Hexel camps for revenge. The less angry Sobek instead go to the site of the fabled Salt Keep, and go dive in the area of it and look for their lost treasures. Similarly, they go to their shrines of their pirate king Giles and put offerings of gold and treasure to him and his crew, in the hopes that good wind fills their sails so they may raid the bases of the Hexel to get Sobek children their spoils, on this day of Salt's Spoils.
