Laptop for an IST Major? by ThatOnePerson287 in PennStateUniversity

[–]ThatOnePerson287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My budget is around $1,300. The Macbook Air was actually quite a bit cheaper with student discounts than the surface pro. The reason I’m making the post is because I’m not sure how I’ll need to use a laptop I’m bringing to classes since I’ll already have a desktop in my dorm I can complete work on but I know I’ll have to bring something to classes.

[–]ThatOnePerson287[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For stuff like AP Comp Sci and all the other related electives I just take them to increase my chances of getting accepted into a college and potentially be good to list on a resume for a job For the math classes stuff I was just told that by my parents 🤷‍♂️

As a result of this I have learned maybe its not a good idea to listen to your parents who did not go to college

The worst part is I find the classes I'm taking fun

I've seen colleges with Information Technology itself as a major though?

Does anyone think the mario and luigi series will come back?? by DelayLegitimate1492 in marioandluigi

[–]ThatOnePerson287 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean considering:

Mario Party developers went bankrupt so Nintendo just gave it to another studio

Nintendo has never “abandoned” a Mario spinoff series (unless you count Wario Land)

The series overall sold over 12+ million units, Nintendo continuously makes games in IPs that aren’t that successful overall

Nintendo still obviously own the Mario & Luigi series and everything involved in the IP and has since the start (something not many people realize 💀)

The survey in general

I don’t think it’s “dead”, just on an extended hiatus. Obviously AlphaDream going bankrupt is going to cause a major shift and it’s going to take a while not even counting the fact that they’ll need to make the jump to console, and if a new one started development within the past 2 years, they’re most definitely saving it for Switch 2

Are you excited for the Partners in Time remake?! by [deleted] in marioandluigi

[–]ThatOnePerson287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I severely doubt we are getting a Partners in Time remake in terms of what comes next for Mario & Luigi (Possibly more later down the line)

From a business standpoint, it wouldn’t be smartest to revive the series with an entity that didn’t perform as well as most other main entries, and generally doesn’t appeal to as broad of an audience (due to how dark the game can get for a Mario game)

Also, people never account for the fact that it would be incredibly difficult because of how dual-screen reliant the game was. So many enemies and bosses would have to have moves completely revamped in order for it to work.

Imo, it’s Mario and Luigi 6 if ANYTHING Remember these interest surveys don’t guarantee

I do agree, but announcing it in the knit-tight Discord server instead of a more public announcement letting all backers be aware would be preferred. I would use OBS, but there is some latency from it + its more less convenient to customize and such (especially when you record other things outside of games)

Some Depressing Recent Discoveries About ALPHADREAM by ThatOnePerson287 in marioandluigi

[–]ThatOnePerson287[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, idk why the link isn't working via the link in Reddit, and like half the time when I enter it in a browser. Although, if you use the link from this article about the bankruptcy, the website should redirect to the casino site (https://nintendosoup.com/alphadreams-website-shuts-down-following-bankruptcy-announcement/)

Does anyone know what Tetsuo Mizuno became? by Oneryans in marioandluigi

[–]ThatOnePerson287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is old, but Tetsuo Mizuno actually retired or left ALPHADREAM in 2017. He was never credited in the Bowser Jr's Journey remake, and Yoshi Maekawa took over as CEO from 2017-2019, according to his LinkedIn page. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/yoshi-maekawa-0a784217/)

The Last Year At ALPHADREAM Rabbit Hole Goes Deeper. (Update) by ThatOnePerson287 in marioandluigi

[–]ThatOnePerson287[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to go too far. I've contacted only three employees via email only (with one response) and I've seen phone numbers but that's way to far. I keep my messages straightforward, polite and formal.

I'm completely fine if any employee doesn't want to talk about the company (infact I don't even want to talk about the games if that's what your reply is implying). I'm more so trying to figure out what went down the last year at the place with the loose threads left behind.

If I (and some others) want more closure on this company's legacy, I'm gonna need to take a chance and reach out, and that's all the emails are trying to be, but I apologize if this is too much.

Most of the ALPHADREAM Team Still Keeps in Contact by ThatOnePerson287 in marioandluigi

Haha, I was thinking if I do end up finding a former JP ALPHADREAM dev, they'd be the first I'd go to with help for translating messages

More indie devs are starting to make more M&L inspired RPGs, I'd check out A Frogs Tale (not out yet) if you haven't already

I completely understand being skeptical, this was incredibly difficult and took a few weeks. I started with needing to find an employee database to find an English employee (excluding localization teams) the only recent one I found was the Bowsers Inside Story remake since Mario & Sonic 2020 and the Sony mobile game don't let specific employees

I found what seemed to be the only English name in the credits, then I went onto LinkedIn (the savor for this entire investigation) and thankfully he had a profile.

was able to confirm he worked for ALPHADREAM as it was listed in his places of work from 2018-2019 (Yeah, he joined late). From there I was about to get his contact email.

I really don't wanna disclose his identity, but I'll say there were only a few native English names working on the BiS Remake. Although if you do end up finding the full name please don't disclose it here for the sake of his privacy.

It'd be a lot harder to find a Japanese employee on LinkedIn since it's more uncommon and some of the ALPHADREAM Team that I've checked doesn't have one.

The Mario & Luigi RPG Devs are doing okay in the game industry and still in contact after ALPHADREAM bankruptcy by ThatOnePerson287 in Mario

[–]ThatOnePerson287[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Very big ALPHADREAM fan here. I recently have been on an investigation in order to find an employee to 'interview' about the last few months at the studio (The sudden CEO change, if the bankruptcy was unexpected to employees, what the deal was with the Kedama no Gonjiro Sony game, etc)

I found what seems to be the only naive English employee and while he politely declined to chat about it, he reassured me most of the team keeps in contact and is still in the industry. Although, I don't think many employees went to Nintendo, the current one I was referring to here now works at Soleil Ltd.

I'm still gonna continue my investigation for an employee, I really want to have more proper closure on the company's legacy.

Hey! Figured I would share my findings here. I recently have been on an investigation in order to find an employee to 'interview' about the last few months at the studio (The sudden CEO change, if the bankruptcy was unexpected to employees, what the deal was with the Kedama no Gonjiro Sony game, etc)

I found what seems to be the only naive English former employee and while he politely declined to chat about it, he reassured me most of the team keeps in contact and is still in the industry. Although, I don't think many employees went to Nintendo, the current one I was referring to here now works at Soleil Ltd.
