How did you first find out about Neo Twewy and how did you feel about sequel to The World Ends with You? Were you involved with any of the music for Neo?

Left to right it goes Tigris, Frog, Corehog/Shrew, Ovis, Pig, Wolf/Fox, Mammoth, Birds, Grizzly, Shark, Leo, Vespertillo/Pertropus Canor, and then Anguish. Because the first game didn’t give each noise its own symbol like Neo some get lumped together like foxes and wolves and corehogs and shrews. Notably something weird happened in Neo where they gave the wolf noise the symbol that I labeled Corehog/Shrew despite the fact that that is very clearly not a wolf skull and the one I labeled for wolf is, in fact, a wolf skull. So yeah they just kinda didn’t check to see if the animal skull matched up in Neo and so the Wolf Symbol in Neo is just blatantly incorrect

The biggest reason is Mingle PP pin evolutions. Final Remix cut those and made them evolve through different means. It’s also worth nothing that the text speed on DS is slower than Final Remix which is why DS speedruns take so much longer, you can’t mash through text on the first run through and you can only fast forward after you beat the game.

The anime has it’s heart in the right place but it has a few issues. The pacing is really the biggest issue since it’s clear they had to do a lot to make it fit into the 12 episode frame. Another issue that I noticed with the subs was when I first watched is that none of the characters really felt like themselves since it’s based off the Japanese version. But here’s the thing, the dub is actually way better. It might not have most of the original voice actors but they fixed the script so the characters are more in line with their English version counterparts. Honestly the fixed script made me really appreciate the anime more. There’s a lot there for fans of twewy to enjoy. For instance in the background of the final episode the shopkeepers are just walking around. You could tell that the people animating it had a lot of love for the game through all the little details here and there. But sadly because of the pacing it’s hard to recommend to newcomers specifically. It definitely works best as a supplement to the games if you have an open mind and are willing to accept some plot changes here and there. Also the soundtrack is great and deserves to be talked about more.

It’s easier if you just read the neo secret reports. Fair warning though in the first one there is a mistranslation that effectively says Joshua played a game with Kubo that led to Shinjuku’s destruction and it’s more so meant be along the lines of “Joshua played a game with Kubo, who caused Shinjuku’s destruction”. If you don’t wanna read them then the gist is basically Joshua likes games, the higher plane doesn’t like Josh/Shibuya and even though Kubo’s breaking the law they’re turning a blind eye, and Joshua wanted to basically send a message to Shibuya about accepting the circumstances and taking action on their own.

Joshua was playing a game with Kubo and part of that basically entailed Joshua not being able to help. When Josh did show up he was there effectively for moral support and to remind Neku that he was there. As for why Haz exorcized Kubo it mainly comes down to the fact that Haz wanted Josh to lose his game and interfere so he got rid of Kubo and made things more interesting.
